ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

my car turns off when on sudden changes of directions, (left right and stop)

on hard turns the car shuts off randomly, when i stop my car suddenly, and i mean SUDDENLY, the car shuts off darn near 95% of the time.

im pretty sure i know the main reasons this can happen
    1, bad grounds
    2, oil pressure droppage
3, loss off fuel pickup in tank, -- doubtful
4, oil pick up could be faulty

here are the details of my motor.
    automatic, f22a1,
225,000 miles on the motor, which was rebuilt 15,000 miles ago.
autozone oil pump at time of rebuild

synthetic oil since rebuild, only have ever leaked out of spark plug tubes at different times since the rebuild

new fuel pump and ignition coil from autozone around 10,000 miles ago
at this time i had checked the main relay, with an autozone "rental" of a new relay, this being said my main relay has bee in my car for 90,000 miles atleast, (since i have had the car)

autozone oil sending unit about 8,000 miles ago
new fuel filter about 8,000 miles ago

i am not sure if it is related but my auto transmission leaks from the case, a slow but steady leak

i did relocate the battery to the trunk so i will be thoroughly checking my grounds

i am far from being an informed person on motors, so i am asking here to find out if i should add things to my check list

i did a title search for car shuts off
it only found this similar thread [car shuts off when stopping quickly ] with no answers

    thanks for all replies
    and happy holidays

car turning off on turns reply

is it when your trying to beat an orange stop lite turn or just regular turning? did you have to use hard braking when your making a turn?

no, im not always stopping sudenly, when i need to stop suddenly, for any reason i may need to, i notice the car shuts off when i brake hard
and i NEVER try to beat turn lights, someone did that to me 2 years ago and totalled my car

the hard turns are basically whenever we, (my friend and i)make a tweak in the suspension, and we are testing to see if i like the tweak. i know its not a cordial thing to do, but we stick to abandoned parking lots 95% of the time, sorry about the other times though.

and i dont brake hard during turns, that is never a good idea
these are all seperate direction changes.
      either turning left
      turning right,
      or just stopping,
      never a combination

Just drop to neutral and turn the key. I have never had a problem starting the car. Turns over a moment before I even turn the key.

I'm pretty sure I can easily pinpoint the problem, I would like to know what else if not on my list of possibilities, should I also look at.

I looked in my trunk, and I just noticed that my plastic tools chest sits right on top of my battery ground. That might be my problem right there,

check the cat, my car would do sorta that. its prob clogged. it may not always show a code but try to see if it will throw a code by checking. im pretty sure it will be just a code 41. after i replaced mine it stopped. and this happened after i swapped my engine. i would bet thats it.

editrob sounds stupid but i didnt believe it till it was really cold and it threw a code and it was a 41.

Check all battery and ground connections. Make sure all are clean and tight, and that no wires are exposed where they shouldn't be. The car randomly cutting out could be related to that. ESPECIALLY if your battery isn't securely tied down.

I have an Optima battery, not tied down securely, and the posts are a bit thinner than those on a standard battery. My cables were loose at one point, and my car would turn off any time I did something to shift the battery.
I also had a snapped fender ground that would separate on turns (again, due to the unsecured battery), which would result in my lights flickering and radio resetting. It was never enough to make the car shut off, though it's possible that it could have done so.
