ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Cracked springs ...how long do I have

When replacing my rotors i noticed that both of my front springs are cracked almost at the bottom since then iv'e been going kinda slow over bumps and train tracks, I'm just wondering generally speaking how long do i have until i replace them. I don't bounce around or anything so the suspension is not really worn out yet. and on a side note when i do replace them any suggestions at to what kind at my job we sell Monroe Sensatrac and I can order some KYB AGX gr-2 's for about 120.00 a piece and maybe some MOOG constant rate springs for 70.00 a pair.

How long do you have? Until what, you crash?

Don't drive that car on cracked springs. Replace the springs, and replace the shocks as well (as they are very likely done as well.)

If you plan on lowering your car, anything by KYB won't be very good (AGX is their adjustable, GR2 is their stock replacement... two different things.) If you get springs that are close to stock height and spring rate, then those would be fine. Monroe shocks are garbage. Don't bother.
My suggestion would be Koni STR.T. They're about $65 each, and can handle anything you throw at them. Koni Sport (yellows) are adjustable, and even better. They're much more expensive, though.

I drove on cracked springs for... I don't know how long.
They were in a difficult place to see so I wouldn't have noticed them when I bought my car. About a year later the dealership found them and I waited 5ish more months before replacing them.

I always wondered what would happen if you just kept going...

thanks for the info this site is helpful as always...

but " Crash " really? that would happened ? well now this makes it all the more serious to get fixed. I have had my cb for 3 yrs now i'm not sure if the springs have always been cracked but i'm not sure what to look for or feel when i'm suppose to know their bad so i guess i never knew until i saw them.

Yes, if your suspension components fail, your ability to control your car is compromised... especially during hard braking or cornering (so in an emergency, when you need it to respond predictably, it might not.)

Just because you COULD crash doesn't mean you WILL... but it increases the chances considerably.
