ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Fuel pressure gauge on the rail

Ok I've searched and cannot come up with the answer I seek. I want to put a fuel pressure gauge on a factory rail.

The reason for this is that I have just replaced the fuel pump after is died, and want to make sure the one i replaced it with is working properly.

From what I can figure by looking at the haynes there is a bolt on the drivers side of the fuel rail, I believe thats where it goes. I just want to make sure before I get started and find out I'm wrong or have the wrong parts.

Can't help directly, but from what I've learned Haynes isn't your best bet. Get a Chilton or a Helms manual.
    Chilton: http://cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=147239
    Google Helms
    MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

Lots of DIY videos specifically for our car

Get some awesome wipers! <-- It's a DIY

I only used the manual to get an idea of where I might need to put it.
I was trying to figure something out before I asked on here. I doubt, but could be wrong, that chilton is going to tell me where to install and aftermarket piece.

The bolt you see on the rail is for relieving fuel pressure when servicing the fuel system and you cannot install a fuel pressure gauge there.
If you want one you can install the gauge on the fuel filter housing on the firewall. Some companys make a kit ( b&m makes one for sure as I have it )
that replaces the banjo bolt on you feed line to the rail and it has a new bolt with crush washers that let you mount your gauge onto the top of the bolt.

The B&M kit says Honda and Acura cars but it will work. Came with everything you need and was around $40.00 I think?

I had to make my own pressure gauge to test my pump, and I did indeed use the driver side port you mentioned.

I bought a machine screw (can't remember the size I think it was 12mm by 22?) and a nut to fit. I drilled through the center of the bolt and cut the head off. Attached a hose with a pressure gauge to the bolt with a hose clamp. Ran the nut up the bolt and used some Teflon tape to make sure the bolt would seal.
Use a pair of channel locks to get the bolt as far as needed and use the nut to tighten it down.
          Test your pressure.

Sick, that just might be crazy enough and cheap enough to work, thank you. I will although check out the B&M kit to try and mount one as a permanent fixture. Thank you all for your assistance in this matter. One more issue fixed with the help of others.

Longer bolt would be needed for the home made gauge correct?

                  Around 2"-3" should be fine.

I forgot to mention, grinding the threads smooth (off) where you plan on attaching the hose or else air will escape and you will not get a correct reading.
