ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

OEM Lower Ball Joint: Snap Ring?

OEM Lower Ball Joint: Snap Ring?

I'm replacing both lower ball joints on my 92 Accord. I bought OEM parts from TASAuto. The OEM ball joints don't come with a snap ring. Also, the ball joint does not appear to have a groove for the ring like my last ball joints did. However, I called TASAuto, where a rep told me that OEM lower ball joints require a ring but don't come with one. Do the OEM lbj's just not have a snap ring groove, or is it possible that this part was packaged into a Honda bag and isn't a true OEM part? I can't find the part number anywhere on the ball joint.

Should I just put the snap ring on anyway? There's nothing to seat the ring into on the thing!

Thanks, in advance, for your help!

originally they came from the factory with snap rings, but they are press fit and the current OEM replacement version does not require a snap ring. putting one on without a groove for it would be pointless, just press them in and they will be fine!

You can hammer them in. In fact, you can't really press them in with a traditional press. Therefore, I hammered the new LBJs into the knuckle on my mom's Odyssey.

Ah that's where you're wrong! Last night, we took the knuckle off and were able to use a combination of pieces from the "C-clamp on steroids" ball joint press kit with a "ball joint kit" to sucessfully press in the ball joint.

We were able to get both kits from the local Autozone. I think what I'm going to do is document EXACTLY what we used and bring it back here. That way, there's no confusion in the future like what I went through in the last week.

When I said press, I was referring to something like this:
