ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    How much would clutch cost?

I am interested in buying a 92 cb, the only thing it needs is a clutch, both of my other cb's are automatics so i dont have any experience with 5 speeds, anyone have a close estimate? any help appreciated

A clutch would be anywhere from $100-$300.
    (rough estimate, depending on brand)

The labor is the costly part.
Unless you plan on doing it.

if youre having it done, youd probably be best off calling local shops that youd be bringing it to, and asking them for their average rate for a honda clutch job, since it varies.

If it needs a new clutch you should learn how to drive it good before you replace the clutch since you said you don't have any experience with 5 speeds. Unless the car needs a clutch so bad it is undriveable which is unlikely.

You can get the clutch itself for anywhere between $50 and $700... or more. Get an Exedy OEM replacement clutch. Inexpensive, and it'll work fine.

Putting it in can be a pain in the ass (get mike's mom to help... she makes it much easier!) If you can afford the downtime to figure it out, get a manual and go to work. It's not hard... just fairly time consuming, especially for a beginner.

You'll need to get the flywheel resurfaced, or replace it with a new one. You might also want to look into replacing the master and slave cylinders (which will require bleeding the system... another pain in the ass.)

Also, DO NOT use an aftermarket throwout bearing. I was too lazy to get an OEM one, and I used the one in my clutch kit. Now people think I don't know how to drive, because it makes a godawful noise in 1st.
