ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Catalyc....Noise

Hey I have a cherry bomb muffler on my cb7......I am getting a high flow catalyc coverter.....my question is, will the catalyc converter reduce the noise from my cherry bomb?

    #2
well the cherry bomb muffler/can is what makes it LOUD, the absence of a cat is what would make it raspy. so a stock cat would help the most, with a high flow cat being louder. a test pipe (straight empty pipe, which many ebay "high flow cat"s are) will be even louder.

well my cherry bomb is way too loud, so I thought by getting a high flow cat would reduce it but i guess not.......do you know of any muffle that is decent is sound meaning not too quiet and not too loud.

well a resonator or glasspack will make it quieter, I had just installed a magnaflow muffler on my car and it was loud, I then added an 18" glasspack...the ones w/ the little fins inside, and it made it a lot more tolerable on the highway.....cost was 72 installed.

          Hello,

Check out the Exhaust Setup sticky thread. I saw some clips on youtube with exhaust setups and sound recordings.

glasspack will sound better, resonators don't do too much if you dont have at least an 18 inch one.

I will buy your old catalytic converter off of you for 60 dollars if you pay for shipping.

I'd like to know also...never really heard of glasspacks. Do they reduce hp at all? Because my magna is way too loud.

pep boys they are 20 bucks the big red cherry bomb muffler it actually sounds amazing.

run a glasspack with your muffler if its too loud. the decibel will be reduced a bit but mostly all rasp and high pitched noise will be deleted.

Thats the cherrybomb I have. I bought it for $20. Currently I have it with a tip. On my old engine which was f22a, it sounded great but now since I did my swap to h22a its really loud.

well keep it, because its better then a resonator

then look for a BIG muffler, a high flowing one of course, the bigger the muffler, the better the sound will be. you want a good exhaust size, 2.5 in 2.5 out.

try a magnaflow or look for a muffler from any stock high performance car to give it a nice mellow oem sound. im not a fan of loud exhaust when it sounds like a lawnmower.
