ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Buying a Cb7 is his asking price fair?

Well I plan to become a CB7 owner within the next few days as long as the price is right. I need help coming up with a good offer. Here are the specs.

    The car is:

    1991 Accord EX Sedan Automatic

    200,000 miles

    lowered

    aftermarket exhaust

    moonroof

    CD

    power windows and lock

New parts: Alt, Radiator, brakes rotors and pads, battery, redone belt, new plugs

Cons: A/c broken, paint starting to fade, trunk and interior seats are very stained

Test drive went well, Brakes were tight, steering was responsive, no shimmys, shifted smoothly.

    What is a good offer?
when life is more than larger and less than you feel you can take. just lift your eyes to the sky and release more and it feels so like the only one to see our lovely God.

i was going to say definitely less than 2000 as well. 1500-ish at most. depends what the market for these cars is like in your area, but overall, they arent worth much nowadays.

its 17 years old, has 200k miles on it, and the paint is fading, and the interior is dirty. hopefully its a good car, but its old and expect to have to replace some thigns here and there... haggle the price down!

              he is asking for $1500.

there is only rust in the usual spots above the rear tires.

I'm not sure if it has been raced in the past, but the guy selling the car doesnt seem much like a racer.

I personally would look good underneath the car since it's lowered, then you can get an idea of how the car has been treated. Some people don't know how to drive a lowered car. good luck

Hmmm...It can look like just a little rust, but there can be much more under the rear bumper. Make sure you look under there real good. I've fixed two rusted cb's so I know. And patch panels are available.

I thought that i would offer him $900, but I feel that may be too low, maybe i'll start at $1100.

Also, about how much would it cost to fix the A/C compressor?

Can I do it myself? (i dont have any car mechanic exp.)

                          and...

I know its hard to tell without knowing the history of the car, but how many
more miles could this accord be expected to drive for?

definitely look at that crossmember...for any dents...look at the lower control arms..

look at the radiator splash guard...the stabilizer endlink bushings..all the joints ( upper..lower and tie rod ends )..look at both the cv joint boots and the rack and pinion boots.

to get a good glance at what condition the front suspension is in.

if you see ripped boots....smashed donuts ( bad bushings on the endlinks and around the balljoints )...talk him down to $1000

look at the rear doglegs ( look at the upper joint bushings ) are they ripped?

consider that into the negotiation of the price.

look at the shock/strut or spring condition...is the spring plates rusted?

are the spings in good shape...not rusted and not even with the other side?

give that car a good look over before buying it. OR considering it.

not a bad price.. just keep looking around the car carefully and make sure things are good. watch out for rust here and there
