ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Does the VSS have an o-ring?

    just a couple of questions......

is the VSS supposed to have an o-ring? (see pic, click on link if pic is too small) The only reason why i ask this is because i was cleaning some gunk on it (where the arrow points) and now that i think about it.......was it just gunk or was it a deteriorated o-ring)

will the VSS from a MT work in a AT? Are the plugs the same? I ask this because i have another VSS that i took from a manual, just want to be sure it'll work in my auto.......don't feel like doing any wiring........

I don't think it has an o-ring. If it does, it is in a different place than here on the Majestic site.

As for if it's the same between auto/manual, I don't know for sure but I'm pretty sure. I don't think you'd have to change plugs or anything, either. They all work the same. Find out, and post back so we'll know

i think the diff between the auto and manuals is that the plugs are differnt, however they are just a differnt connector that is added on to the stock connector....at least this was for a cd5 accord.

as for the oring i dont think so however there is a small pin like shaft that goes in there.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

the plugs and sensor are interchangable, but the geared base that mounts to the transmission was different.

and not sure on the Oring.

I think it does have an o-ring because power steering fluid has to flow through it. Also, from the picture, it looks as if an o-ring would fit right in place there.

yeah, it kinda looks like an o-ring is supposed to go there.....but i'm just not sure......when i cleaned it i couldn't tell if it was just some gunk build-up or if it was actually a deteriorated, old o-ring.......

i wish somebody knew for sure and could let me know so i don't have to install the VSS twice......

just to verify for anybody out there......i took the old speed sensor off and i saw no o-ring, so i believe it's safe to say that it doesn't have an o-ring on the sensor (around the key part, even though it looks like one could be there).

also, for anybody wanting to know, this VSS i took from a junkyard came off of a '92 manual car......and worked on my '91 automatic.

                  Yay! My speedo works again!
