ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Why did the U.S. accord get screwed on options?

Well in case anyones wondering why the U.S. accords never came with as many options as the foreign counterparts is pretty simple....

because if you want more options.. buy ACURA!

Acura is the luxury line here in the U.S!

    Makes sense right?

As far as why Type R's are not available is because the market isnt as big as in other countries. Here people are more family oriented and need more trunk space and whatnot. Thats why we have so many friggin LX's (90-93 accord)

    Thougts on this?

true also in canada we get the el and the new csx which im pretty sure cant be found anyware else in the world. also the amount of hondas vs acura is like 10 - 1

Partly because of Acura, but also in the US, Honda was seen as economical transport.

The US has defined "social" and "status" boundaries that don't exist on the same level outside the US.

People in the US would have been unwilling to pay top dollar for a fully loaded Accord, because for just a little more money, they would have been able to "see themselves" in an MB, Cadillac, Lincoln, Lexus, Acura etc.

Even if the car they ended up buying was ultimately inferior, it had a superior nameplate, and that is what we care about.

sad, isnt it? for the same reason, they use more letters and numbers in car names to signify luxury and a higher status. Hyundai XG350L? wtf is that? in japan their cars all have names, soarer, levin, etc.

It is sad. Numbers = value LOL! Last time I checked it was the car underneath the numbers.

I once had an asshat in an XG350 that tried to be an ass coming up the mountains.

You know the type. The kind that "owns" the left lane and passes trucks at .5MPH, even though he isn't going the speed limit. Well I passed him eventually once the road was clear. If I remember right, I had to do it in the right lane because he wouldn't move over.

Of course, we can't have a stupid HONDUH passing us up mountain grades because it makes us look bad. Since we have to justify our purchase, it is engrained in our DNA that we MUST pass said HONDUH.

Unfortunately, it never happened. I let him pass me the first time, because I really just wanted to cruise on CC. He got around, and slowed down to block me again, because he KNEW I couldn't ever compete in my inferior crap car.

LOL! All this from a Hyundai!

Needless to say, I don't play games, and if you are intent on playing them you have 2 choices. 1) play them behind me, or 2) buy something that is so fast, I can't help it, and then you MUST be willing to drive it, because I am.

Once I passed him the second time, he tried again four or five times and got shut down each one. The faster we went the harder I pulled.

Finally, he gave up, so I moved back over, slowed down, hit RESUME. He passed me, and I never saw him again. That is fine. It doesn't bother me if you pass me, it bothers me if you pass me to try and impede me for whatever reason.

That game has been repeated with Dodges, Fords, Chevies, Mercedes, BMWs, Nissans, Mazdas, Toyotas and even other Hondas, not to mention all kinds of SUV's (because we all know that SUV's have an advatage at high speeds ).

I once was coming home from Phoenix, and I had 5 people in my car, all adults, and 4 tires and rims in the trunk, and this douche in a 82 Corvette was trying to show me how fast his car was. LOL! Sad thing is, had I been as loaded as him (i.e. just me), I would have walked his ass too. He was having trouble passing me on Cruise Control. My car isn't fast, but apparently neither are '82 Vettes. The difference is that I am not living under the illusion that it is fast.

Anyway, I haven't ever been really impressed with many, many "superior" cars.

Mercedes interiors are plasticky and cheap. BMWs aren't the fastest sports cars on the road, in fact without a sport package they really aren't impressive at all. Cadillacs are just garbage, and god forbid if you own a Lincoln with stock airbags on it!

Not to mention every redneck honkey that assumes their Hemi Quad Cab is the fastest thing on 4 wheels. I feel like telling them that it is exactly as fast as a 6,000lb truck with 340HP.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, I have just never been real impressed with status. Most of the time people seeking some kind of social status are unhappy, frustrated, insecure, or some combination of the above. They figure that by compensating and showing the world how important they are by buying a machine that they ASSUME is superior to everyone else's, they will instantly be catapulted to stardom.

SOCAL is an overridingly prime example.

As long as America is full of these douchebags, then Honda will make choices to suit.

Interestingly, Acura is spreading worldwide, and the line between Honda and Acura quality, as well as other brands is getting increasingly thin. It is hard to tell a new Accord EX V6 from a TL, TSX, or some VERY expensive Mercedes, in terms of build quality.

Awesome owequitit. I agree completely. Its a pain when I'm just trying to get somewere, and enjoy the drive, and some inconsiderate jerk gives me problems.
I also think some people are just competitive like that, they have to be better than the next guy. But that same person probly does shit work and complains of low pay.

              LOL! I guess so.

They all want to play NASCAR around here. Funny thing is, it is worst when you drive a Honda or Toyota (Honda especially).

Everybody with that attitude will usually talk about what junk these cars are (again trying to justify their purchase to themselves) and how their (insert make/model here) is way better.

If that is the case, then why do you even bother to fuck with the said piece of shit?

Anyway, the other thing to consider too, is that Honda's features here were extremely competitive for the price. Look at other 1990-1993 cars that were on the market, and in the same segment. I can't think of anything with over riding feature content.

Yea, I just don't understand why people feel the need to prove to others about how fast one's car is. Your more humble. But about your status thing, sure two of my car is in your list but how I came to owning those are a different story.

One I got because of a big accident that scared the shit out of my mom (I think it was the 10th one, all accidents were not my fault) and she just wants more safety, that and the fact that she can knowing that I am responsible enough. The second car is because of my sis' boyfriend who is on a business trip for a looooong time. Since I was the only person he knew who can drive manual I am taking care of it. Those cars really don't mean much to me as compare to the car that I got on my own. Its an Integra which can be had easily. I am not seeking social acceptence, I am happy with my life, I have no major worries except for college tuitions and your occassional exams and I do not believe I am insecure (just a bit shy). But in a way I do believe people buy those car because of its status symbol.

The new Mercedes' interior do look like plastic crap, even for the 50k E classes leather is an option. BMWs are more towards handling but they should be quick to keep up with their sports image, maybe the new Ms and the new 3 tt can do just that.

I think that Lexus and Acura are going to appear in the Japanese marketplace.

I wasn't trying to imply that buying one of those said cars was a bad idea, I don't really care what you buy. We all have our priorities, and they are all different. I am a firm believer in "to each his own."

It is just that typically, people who buy the above mentioned vehicles, do it for reasons other than their own personal taste. They want to be seen in it, and they expect everyone to grovel at them because they have it. They think it makes others envious and they think they are more important driving it.

It is the only logical reason for most people's behavior.

How many people who buy a 3 series get a 325i? A 215HP 3.0 liter straight six that is pushing a 3500lb car?

If you are really into peformance and not status, then why would you pay that much for that car, when there are a lot of cars that will stomp it for a lot less money, and be just as satisfying on the commute to and from work, where most people use them?

                  Status/ego/whatever.

The true enthusiasts buy BMW's because they have potential. These are usually the ones that get the highest model they can afford with the sport package, and all the other things needed to really get the performance out of the chassis. I have no problem with that. These are also typically not the guys that go around driving like asses.

Their Halo vehicles are phenomonal! But how many people do you see driving those Bimmers?

Most just get the base model, and assume "it's a BMW and it will smoke you."

Yet if they are so certain, why do they even waste their time with a little Honda?

I have no problem with the cars, I don't like most of the dicks behind the wheel.

But there are also dicks/assholes who drive SRT-4, Evos, Civics, Camrys etc you name it. Maybe its a location thing but where I am living its a bunch of old people who go to sleep at 9 and drive the higher end cars. I not only dislike dicks/assholes trying to cause an accident I also don't like people driving 20mph below the speed limit and swerving (common issue here). Your looked down upon even if you have a base BM, Benz, Acura, Lex. And about the Hyundai XG12428374392 messing with you, I do not consider that car a status symbol, maybe it was a pride thing for him? Kinna pointless but eh... To each their own is what I believe also, I sure didn't get my car for its speed/performance but for its ammenities and styling (which the Japanese cars didn't suit me at the time).

i think we're all guilty of it in 1 aspect or another, i too want a BMW, but not for it 260mph top speed that will make me eat viper(cockyness is a bitch), but i love hondas so i want a s2000....

now going from 40,000 grand car with phenomal handling and a L6, hell yea , then even consider downgrading to a unearthly s2000, blaphemy...but why do i think this way? prolly marketing for starters(and that damn speed channel), the ego in all of us want that supra mkiv or the r33 gtr rb26dett, but hell why not just get a alexus(kanye...lol) or porche gtr(neva could spell this car name), bugatti w16 quad turbo, etc. why o why cant we just settle for the average car, b/c at the end of the day, its just a car, it goes from 0 to 100, stops, has blinkers, and uses gas, whats a CAR really anyway?????
