ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    No Diving until 21

Whats up guys, Im doin a project at school (Debate) and have to get opinions from others. I have to debate whether they should make a law for people to be 21 and older to obtain a licence. Im against it, tell me what you guys think and maybe an explanation

    Thanks!

I think it's fine how it is now, I think it's fine because the tests they take, I think they could be a bit harder on the driving portion but still fine a it is now.

if kids learn to drive before they are legal to drink, less accidents of wreakless drunk first time drivers will be on the road. i'm not saying kids under 21 cant obtain alcohol and some kids under 21 do drink and drive but it wouldnt be near as bad as 21. kids who are 15 and even 14 can work at publix and there parents may not always be home before they get out of school and need a car to work. hope that helps.

Dumb idea. News drivers are new drivers no matter what age they start at. If they're legally old enough to vote then they should be legally allowed to drive to the voting place.

I've had mine since I was 15. As stated above though, inexperience is still inexperience regardless of age. The road tests just need to be harder.

                      This

Getting my license was so easy

If you fail the test you probably couldn't graduate middle school

The test should be harder and focus on realistic driving. In maryland we drive on some fake ass course at speeds below 15mph. What a pointless test. The hardest part was parallel parking for me because i was new and didn't know the boundaries of my car yet.

The thing i think needs to be stressed the most

                      Texting while driving

I don't care what you say, how good at it you think you are or anything. Texting and driving is not safe

A new driver caught texting and driving should be given a 30 day suspension. End of story. I hate texting and driving. Need to talk to someone? Why not call them up?

Inexperience does not play as large a role as maturity and judgement, IMO.

I personally think it's better to get your driver's licence at an early age like 15. It opens up very large doors to responsibility and accountibility, two things which I see severely lack in today's youth.

I think that the driving tests in North America are an absolute joke, and literally any idiot can get a licence. If you have ever watched the tv show on Discovery Channel "Canada's Worst Driver", that show more than proves how our licence and driver education systems fail miserably.

Driving is a priveledge and not a right. It seems like getting a licence is so easy, it may as well be a right to get it, but it is a priveledge to maintain it.

I like the idea of restricted licenses, and decals that alert other drivers to an inexperienced driver.

Giving kids a few weeks of classes in school, a written test, and then a couple hours behind the wheel... then a 15 minute test with some fat dude that doesn't want to be there... that doesn't really qualify a new driver to have full privileges, IMO. There are some things that inexperienced drivers just do not understand... that's something my parents said to me when I was a new driver, and I didn't believe it... but yes, it's true. Now that I've been driving for 12 years, and now that I do it professionally... there is a BIG difference. Experience means a lot. The ability to feel your car, to read the situation, to react without thinking (and actually make the right decision.) You can't teach that.

I don't think 21 is a good age to start, though. 16-17 heavily restricted... maybe until 19. THEN full privileges. If people have to wait until 21 to drive... and also drink... that's going to cause some serious problems!
