ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

The only problem is that NOBODY knows how to maintain them. I love asking people selling RX-7s if they burn any oil. 80% of them say "nope! doesn't burn a drop!"
Rotaries are SUPPOSED to burn oil!
        That!!

Changing spark plugs with the lead/trails are very fun. Because people don't know how to monitor their engine oil their engines blow, that is how the rotaries get a bad rep. That and their cooling systems in the FD.

i rembember my brothers rotary truck was fun as hell but it did give him problems at the begining because previous owner never maintain it. after he rebuilt it and went over it, ran like a champ... so be careful when buying a rotary powered car if the owner doesnt have a clue about his car then move on a good way to test them is by simply asking what deev said earlier. lol

The FC RX-7 is actually really simple. Has a few basic, well known and documented problems, but was nowhere near as complex or prone to issues as the FD.

Ultimately, most of the problems boil down to poor design decisions on Mazda's part, which in turn causes most of the problems. In most cases they are easily worked around.

Keep in mind that the 2 things a rotary is absolutely intolerant of are overheating and detonation. And yet they purposely put inadequate cooling systems, and fuel cut rev limiters. Go figure.

I rode in the trunk of an FC to Waffle house at 5 in the morning once. Not an awful ride. I really wanted one for a while, but then I got my CB

Oh and I have several friends on another forum I'm on a bit that have them. They love them, and don't complain about them being more of a headache than they are fun to drive.

88 GX and 87 TurboII FC's are a couple of the worst cars I've ever owned.

Constant problems, both mechanical and electrical, poor build quality...something in the interior breaks every time you drive it.

Not to mention, as fun as a rotary can be, it's horrible on gas, has no torque and chances are high that 'll blow up.

They are very easy cars to work on, easy to get parts for and are total track monsters. As a car that you're going to drive on weekends and stuff, they're alright, but stay away if it's a daily driver.

These cars just have so many little problems that add up to one big headache, you'll always be fixing something on it.
