ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    shop stories and motor honey

I really feel depressed about my recent shop visit. I hate this shop anyway since their good mechanic left but they will look at my car for free.
they want to charge me $800 plus to do the oil pan gasket, rear and main seal, tranny gasket(i think), and a crank seal. Now I understand that most of this is labor but it still sounds ridiculous to me. I looked in the book and it seems easy but unfortunately my husband and I don't have the tools that would make it easier.
my husband who doesn't understand the awesomeness of driving a cb7, wants me to use motor honey or sell it. I'm not doing either of these things unless someone can vouch for the motor honey.
do you guys have any bad shop stories to tell?

800 bucks for all thats a pretty good deal. when you think about it, labor rates are atleast 100 bucks an hour now.

Your husbands a dork! J/k Sorry to hear youre having problems.Have you tried other shops to compare prices? Also, I had a horrible shop experience. My old 91 sedan, was in a shop for repairs and paint after an accident. It wound up sitting for nearly a year! Then when it once finally completed, just drying after paint, looking super clean....someone breaks into the shop, strips mine and a few other cars and the shop refused to cover the custom parts.I got the car back all stock with a clean paint job.I sold it to a friend and he flipped it a week later!

my husband is a classic VW lover, need I say more?
did your car sit for a year b/c of cash flow or just because the shop was lame? they could have covered your parts especially if they wanted to keep your business.
I guess since I'm acutally driving this car now, it's starting to show itself. i let it sit for 8 months cause i was saving for a clutch i might still need.
my civic needs belts and stuff since she has now become the main transportation for the family and if my husband will be putting 90 miles on her each day(commute to work), she has to be ready!

Engine repair doesn't come in a bottle. Ever.

It's not really all that difficult to change those things, but it IS a good deal of work. You're right, that's where most of the cost comes in.

As for a bad shop story... I had my H22 installed by a shop. They said they had done swaps before. They quoted me $500.
2 weeks and $1400 later, after I had pretty much learned and taught them all that was necessary to do the swap (all the things I didn't feel comfortable learning in the first place) I finally got my car back. I STILL find myself fixing dumbass things that they did. That was back in 2003.

The shop was lame! Since the spoiler I had was stolen, the owner tried to give me a civic wing! I told him no thanks and no joke, just as I said it,a man came in the shop asking what happened to the spoiler he had on his civic! That was the last straw for me before I threatened with legal action. Needless to say, the shop didnt last long. This was way back around 2000.

bad shop story , i took my 96 mustang gt to a speed shop and asked them to beef up the motor, this was back in 99, i had parts to go on. bullet intake manni, mod max cams , FRP heads and headers . the bad thing is , never tell them how much cash you have too spend .13 weeks later i get a call. your motor is bad , but we got a 98 cobra 32 valve 4.6 for 3k or for 3500. with a procharger . i said great and to go ahead , about 10 weeks go by and i get another call, come get your car . i had saved 4k and was banking on getting some new tire's with the left overs . i went to get car and it cost me 6300.00 $ . it was a fast ass car , but not worth it too me.i sold my old 4.6 and the mods for 1500. and ate the rest .sold the car for 15k when it sold though.

A man that keeps looking back can't see whats in front of him.

wow...they probably stole your stuff! I don't feel so bad anymore. I guess I've had enough of this shop too. the head mechanic and the desk lady broke up, he left, and now the quality has gone way down. he was the best and he wouldn't try to rob you either.

Yeah, especially when it comes to CB7s! You were here when we all worked on my CB7, Ralph... how many people did I end up having here? Like 8 CB7tuner members showed up?
