ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Bell is one of the best... But the kind you should really look into are the ones that have independent sensors in the front and rear that wire into the main module which can be mounted wherever you'd like. As far as I know, cops aim for license plates, so you can mount the sensor in that area for better accuracy. There's even a company in Forida that will re-locate the radar display into your rear view mirror using a laser. It's pretty sweet, my friend that owns a custom shop sublets a lot of work to those guys and the results are awesome!

The best radar detector is your brain and your instincts. If you know there is a sign up ahead just watch for it that is all. Never steered me wrong at all. Iv'e watched Gloryaccordy and he is quite good at it.

A mixture of that and a radar detector is about the best you can hope for. I have the Bell Rx 65, and it's saved me countless times.

That being said; I have been caught once. But I was just going too fast to get back to the speed limit.

Yeah that is true. I only hate it when they reduce the speedlimit without you knowing or in-town speedlimits. I saw one in milford NewJersey that was 15mpp and anyone doing more than like 20 was getting pulled over especially when your out of state.

The hell is up with all of that. It was not posted absolute speedlimit meaning anything over that posted speed limit your going to get a ticket.

The speed limit on I75 is 70.
            I was going 95.
He caught me at 80 and wrote it as a 75 in a 70

I had a radar detector that I got from a friend that worked fine in my civic but in my 92 cb7, it just went crazy. When I plugged it in, it just kept beeping and stuff. Anyone know what would cause that?
i want to get a new one for my cb7 too, thanks for asking this question!

going off when passing stores and aiports is normal but when you're driving and it continues to go off, something ain't right. I just thought that they wouldn't work in older cars but I guess they do.

The Escort passport has been rated the best bang for the buck radar detector you can get by many auto electronics companies including Crutchfield. I own a passport and haven't gotten a ticket since I've had it. My Dad has a Cobra and we compared and mine receives the signal and warns you far, far in advance of the Cobra unit. Also, I have a friend with a Bell (not sure which model) and it outperforms it. I have another friend who has owned the passport and a valentine one, and she says they were both equally effective for signal detection.

Beltronics and Escort are the same company (cant remember who bought who) and have no plans on shutting down either one at the moment.

If you want to use one in areas where they are Illegal then the only choices are Bel STI or Escort Redline (Redline newer and slightly more sensitive).
They have good software and filtering to reduce falses.

V1 is good but chatty in the city. Great on Highways and the arrows tell you where the radar is comming from.
Has the best laser detection But will false from certain vehicles tail lights.

I have had the Bel STI for 4 years and sent it in for a check up every year. I paid the extra $20 for an extra 2 years warranty.
The last time I sent it in it cost me $80ish but they gave me :New case, serial nimber sticker, lenses, updated carrying case, cig lighter, winshield mount and suction cups.

Whistler is a good lower end make.

DO NOT BUY Cobra, RMR or any other bullshit brand. Cobra was the cats ass in the 80's but those days are long gone!

A quick heads up: some MINI-VANS are now setting off mine, which is supposed to have the best logic to reduce false's. It was mostly the new town and countries but today a new odyssey was doing it. Very annoying.
