ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Ironically, the woman I was getting away from joined the Army and went into something in intelligence so secure that she said she really would have to kill me if she told me what it was. When I laughed she told me that those were part of her orders. She couldn't discuss her job with anyone other than to say she sat at a desk and used a computer. We kept in touch for a long time, even talked about getting married at one point, but she couldn't stay faithful. The last time I talked to her she was on husband number 3 or 4. She stayed in touch with my mom for even longer, but nobody's heard from her in years. I hope she's doing good.

He seemed pissed off when I chose airborne artillery. I was young and joining up to get away from a relationship going in the shitter, and I made my choice like this "What do you have leaving the soonest? That's what I want."

3 times...High School (for kicks, got a 90smthing), before I joined 2yrs later, and earlier this year to improve my score to retrain into another AFSC.
Just go to your local library, and grab an ASVAB study guide, and take the practice tests a few times. Its no big deal.Last edited by cb7pr; 12-08-2010, 10:10 AM.

Took the ASVAB about 6 years ago. Now in the military, but do go to the library and get the study guide to refresh your memory.94 UK Accord*Weapon-R Intake*Apexi Exhaust*2 JL Audio 10W0s

'Traditional tests scores are reported as a percentile which is the number of right answers divided by the total number of questions times 100. The ASVAB calculates it differently. The ASVAB percentile score is a comparison of your score in relation to everyone else score. The highest ASVAB score in terms of percentile is 99. This means you did better than 99% of the other people who took the test.
What most people refer to as their ASVAB Test Scores is actually the ASVAB AFQT score which is typically represented in percentile form with the following minimum requirements for enlistment. Based on your score, you are put in a category. The military limits the number of people they take from the lower categories based on their enlistment needs.
Category I 93-100% Outstanding
Category II 65-92% Excellent
Category IIIA 50-64% Above Average
Category IIIB 31-49% Average
Category IVA 21-30% Below Average
Category IVB 16-20% Markedly Below Average
Category IVC 10-15% Poor
Category V 0-9% Not Trainable
Raw scores are the number of points you get on each subtest. Each question is worth a different number of points based on its difficulty level. Hard questions are worth more points than easy questions. The standard score is actually a conversion of the raw score based on standard distribution of scores with a mean of 50.
Line scores determine which military jobs you qualify for. Various combinations of all nine subtests are considered in the Line Score requirements for each job assignment. Every branch of the military looks at line scores a little bit differently.
For example, the ASVAG GT or General Technical is an Army line score which is calculated as the Verbal Expression (VE) score plus the Arithmetic Reasoning (AR) score. The VE is calculated from the Word Knowledge (WK) and Paragraph Comprehension (PC) score.

Well, she scored off the charts. Thats how she got the position she's in now; there were only a handful fo open spots and her score got her in.

mikey thats probably one of her line scores not her asvab/afqt. asvab/afqt only goes to 99. i got like a 90 but my line scores were:
cl: 123
co: 113
el: 115
fa: 114
gm:112
gt: 118
mm: 106
of: 111
sc: 118
st: 115
all over 100 but thats not my asvab/afqt score, those are just how well you did in individual categories. here is the break down of the sub categories. this is what ultimately decides if you will get to do the job you want.
cl-clerical (verbal expression [ve], arimethtic reasoning [ar], mathematical knowledge [mk]) my best lol
co-combat score (ar, coding speed [cs], auto & shop Information [as] and mechanical comprehension [mc])
el- electronics score (general science, ar, mk, and electronic Information [ei])
fa-field artillery (ar, mk, cs, mc)
gm-general maintenance (gs, as, mk, ei)
gt-general technical (ve, ar)
mm-mechanical maintenance (numerical operations [no], as, mc, ei)
of-operators and food (ve, no, as, mc)
sc-surveillance & communication (ve, ar, as, mc)
st-skilled technical (gs, ve, mk, mc)
hope that helps you understand a little bit better. most people think that if they get a good asvab/afqt score they can just pick any mos they want. however, if they suck miserably in the category pertaining to their mos they wont get it.Last edited by sikz6; 12-13-2010, 01:29 PM.

Don't do drugs.
I got every question on that bitch correct, got a perfect score. I had every recruiter at MEPS jocking me offering me nuclear navy or even the space program in the air force, but i was all messed up at that time in my life on meth, so I chose Army Infantry for the signing bonus ($15,000). Ended up regretting my decision, wanted to go home, so everytime they tried to tell me to do something, I just refused. Hit the drill Sargent in the face with a football, Eventually I got sent home on ELS....thank god, I would have been running next to a tank in Afghanistan, and thats not a good thing being 6'5".
