ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

If you're talking about "steelies" then I would start with some heaviear grit paper. Do you understand the painting process? Pics OK, Start with 180-320 grit paper, then bump it up to 600 grit in between 1st and 2nd coats.

By sanding with rougher, you make a contact patch for the paint to adhere to. the sanding between the coats is to even out the paint so it looks like one layer with no drips or runs, giving you a smooth finish. Ask pros, they will tell you

another option would be to take your steelies to a powder coater. not as expensive as a paint job but looks good, and lasts pretty well.

The wheels in the pic have an insert for the lip, thats not a painted lip. Search youtube for some basic painting and you should be good to go

most people leave steelies alone now a days... unless they paint em red and add miny moons for the rat look. if you like steelies and want em more nicer, look into diamond steelies or something like that

My stock steelies are only used for my studded snow tires, which I drive to the mountain all the time. They look horrible after one drive. There is no way I would want my steelies to even remotely look nice, cause then i would feel bad and want to clean them all the time.

That's just my opinion though, then again I have 4 sets of wheels for my car and the tires should last me for the next 10 years since I change them for each season.

Well then painting may work good for you. Try it out, at least if it is not up to your liking, you can always paint them black again.

Also you can stalk craigslist. I picked up a set of 5th gen 7 spoke wheels with brand new tires for $175 a few years back.

also, you cant just leave the lips polished like you can with other wheels, they are steel and will quickly rust. you can paint them, however. a few members on here have done that.
