ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Oh what to do? Sleeper or not?

I just got this buggy on the road again after it was neglected and left for dead ($300). It has great interior, no rust, hardly any dents...Over all in good shape appearance wise. The whole car is pretty much stock except the two acura rims on the passenger side (I'm picking up stock honda rims on friday) I am hoping to drop an H22 in by summer. The original motor was pretty much rebuilt over the past couple of weeks and runs very well. Also the distributor, altenator and clutch were replaced. But now I have been finding myself drooling over the spyder body kit. What I am getting at is I want to see some pics of your sleepers and non sleepers and what you did and how much should I plan on $aving to achieve these things. I definately want a small spoiler either way. Also people keep telling me that I should drop it a couple inches but I'm not sure, cuz I don't want to look too ghetto.

    Thanks in advance,
    Stacy

check out the members rides and see what cars you personally like, you can also compare the stockish looking ones to other people that have body kits on their cb's and see which one you drool over then

HAHA! Should have seen the dudes at the junk yard watching me switch a clutch cable in an emergency situation :-P

Ya, I just need ideas. I have not had a car that didn't have a lien on it in a long time and look forward to playing with this one.

I personally like the sleeper look. If you want a small spoiler, go with an OEM rear wing.

Pros of the sleeper look... Cops don't even look twice at my car and you get to surprise the hell outta people when you fly by them...

Cons of the sleeper look... No one thinks to race you (if that's what you're into)... Can't think of any more at the moment.

Just do what you want! It's your car, make it personal!

At one point I was in love with a bodykit just from looking at the pictures on the manufacturer's website... Then I saw that body kit on a car(it was the same color as mine too)....and I was like WOW that ruins the look of the car!...
Also a dropped Accord with a bodykit is impossible to drive in some places! As soon as you hear that scraping sound....it will ruin your day.
IMO some kind of lip kit and/or little drop is always more practical.

You'll be hard pressed to find anyone on this site that doesn't tell you the exact same thing. And by anyone, I mean the majority, not inclusive.

See, there's this trendy thing going on with a certain set of "must have" parts, and there's a lot of people here that are really "me-too"-esque and unless your car has that specific arrangement of parts, they'll just try and knock on you.

Personally, I think the sleeper look is just bland, and a little flash here and there isn't the end of the world.

dropping the suspension should always be on the list.

-one: the car looks SOO much better lowered.
-two: it not only handles with cornering and handling but it also helps with wieght transfer. if you have the right set up it could help you get off the line better

not sure about the sleeper look tho. like it was said before, vops wont look twice at your car and people will feel humiliated to know they got beaten by a family car. lmao

the down sides?: like said before. people think twice about racing you(if your into that), a LITTLE bit more trouble in modding parts( i.e.-intercoolers, mufflers) to keep them out of sight. intercoolers have to be hidden behind the front bumper instead of going all out and cutting out all the front bumper and having the IC in plain sight.

but its up to you tho. import tuning is about YOUR personality onto the car. if your like me( ) and like coming out of nowhere then the sleeper look is for you.

god i hate typing too long. i talk too much. lmao

do you want it to go fast, handle good, or look good?

most people dont pick either "sleeper or ricer" they just do what they want to do, and the car turns out how it does... some people dont care too much about the exterior, and spend their time under the hood, because they want the car to go faster. some people want a sweet looking car and dont care about racing or going fast, so they spend their time on looks, which in your case would be a kit.

you have a good running car, so at least you dont need to worry about the engine dying.

which would you be happy with, going fast with a stock looking car, or having a nice looking car? figure that out, and go from there.

you might want to do a little of both, get a feel for the car. look through our Members Rides section and see what different things you can do to a CB7... as you go, youll figure out what your goal is.

#1 is performance, #2 is class, I don't really like a lot of "bling" But I also know that if I left the body exactly the way it is and also dropped an H22 in it, the cops would look, they would think by the looks alone right now "illegal imagrant!" LOL! You don't see too many old cars or beaters on the road in my area. I think people in the springs treat cars like Logans Run (giving my age away) :-P

I'm getting lots of good ideas and looking at the pics of some of the cars here I see that my car can look classy (not in a ricer sence) and haul butt too (even with the stock F22 in it, it's got a lot of zip to it, surprised me!

I still want a tiny spoiler on the trunk, just to modernize it. ;-)
