ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Throwing around a new idea...

I have been playing around with the idea of making my own rear fogs, seeing as how they are pretty hard to get a set of and fairly expensive.
Here is what I thought of using to do this:
1.) Aftermarket foglights, or parking lamps.
2.) Testors Candy Apple Red Paint.
3.) Modifying the bulbs so they are the same as the real rear fogs.(which is why I have been asking lately. )
4.) Fiberglassing a housing/bracket to mount the fogs on.
5.) a prewired harness that can be ran into a 12v source and ran to a switch mounted in the e-brake console.

I know this might be a little far fetched, BUT I would be willing to try and I am so anal about my car, that it would either look good or I would throw it away, lol. I wouldn't of course cut holes in my bumper until I was absolutely certain, but I am trying to get height, width, and length specs on the real ones in order to judge the imitation correctly, and get it real close.
Comments would be appreciated, and if anyone has pictures and the aforementioned specs I would be grateful. I would write a DIY with pics as well, so if I actually do this I will have documentation.
    Thanks for reading!

Oh and the price to do this would probably be cheaper so I'm assuming the rest of you DIY'ers out there would get a kick in a sick mod such as rear fogs, right?

Sounds like a good idea. Might have to give the idea to my friends for them to give a crack at it. They would ove to try it. I'll let you know how it goes. But let me know how yours comes along too.

Finally a reply! Yeah IDK when I'm going to do this. The set of fogs with harness is like $35 and the paint is like $5; the fiberglass is free b/c my friend has some. Patience to do it right is expensive on my part, lol.
Cool glad someone else thinks it's a good idea.

It's definitely unique. And that's what's so good about it, no one else will have them. It'll make you stand out way more, and if it gets done and people like the results, more people are going to come to you since their going to want some too.

Sorry for the double post, but what type of fog lights do you have in mind?

There are some square ones that APC makes that don't look aftermarket, and they are pretty cheap. I still gotta take a look at them to determine if they are ok though. We shall see.

Sounds cool to me too. Take lots of pics along the way.

good luck making a fiberglass backing that actually looks good... if i were you, id cut the hole in the bumper only slightly larger than the lense, use that edge protector stuff and push it onto the edges of the hole, and just mount the fog centered in it. granitecb7 used the edge protector for his front foglights and it looked like brand new OEM rubber liners, until i got up close and checked.

I thought about that too. Fiberglass is hard to make stuff out of unless you have experience in it, which I don't. BUT I did just go look at those foglights that I was talking about, and decided on a few extra things to make it look right:
1.) Lens repair Red clear plastic sheet. I would cut it to fit inside the housing so that it wouldn't be a straight beam like foglights, but spread out like a reflector.
2.) These particular lights have a plastic bracketing outside already, and would just require maybe a little bit of some other plastic JB welded to look and fit better. (the top doesn't have too much to work with so I'd have to add something.)

I would say the best thing about this set is the fact that they are made of glass, and they come with a prewired harness so all I would have to do is apply it to a 12v source in the trunk. Anyone know where one is that doesn't blink with the turn signals? I am assuming there is one on the antenna that I could tap into, or maybe my power cable from my amp, but that sounds like a dumb idea IDK?
Anymore help would be appreciated. Also if there is an interest I might make a few sets and sell them just to make my money back. If anyone is interested go ahead and PM me and we can talk.
                    Thanks

i've seen replacement taillights for trailors that look identical to the rear fog. later.

The only ones I've found aren't quite right, and while they might be cheap, the best thing I've found is the APC foglights. I could make them look better than the trailer lights, and then use them. We will see, maybe I'll find some better trailer lights around town.

Ive never heard of them either. A picture of a car that had a set would be cool, just so i can see what your talking about. is it so people behind you can see you better in the fog?

Yes, they came in two different ways. Go check this thread for pics and more info. If you search this is the type of stuff that comes up, just gotta try.
