ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

A guy I know here in Omak bought a VIS carbon fiber hood, fits like shit. I figured it may just be his car, I put it on my car, it was even worse. I personally wouldn't waste my money one one. There is maintenance to be done (reclearing it from time to time) and it's a shot in the dark on the fitment. For the money, I'd look for other appearance mods, if that's what you're looking for.

My buddy has one but i'm not sure which company it is from. As nine deuce says, there is maintenance to be done to the cf hoods. My buddy did a pretty good job reclearing after a few years of use. Another problem that may arise is warping of the hood due to heat from the car. Drilling hole for the nozzles is pretty easy though. I think as long as the car is in tip top shape, Why not a cf hood? If it was me, its one of the last things i would purchase (after maintenance, suspension, engine mods, and appearance in that order)
CF hoods on unmodified cars looks pretty silly. Unless its a sleeper and the hood was painted to match..

Nice! I'm almost there too. I almost had a chance to get a used cf hood with minor dings and a new clear coat for 100 bux awhile back but didnt have time to pick it up. I need a few cosmetic repairs and i should be good. I was thinking of getting one anyways because you can always resell and get at least 50% back if its still fresh.

Just so you are aware. Most cf hoods don't consist of all cf, they are made of fiber glass and then have one layer of carbon fiber layered over it.

Unless you're paying way more than $500 for a real carbon fibre hood to save weight for racing, you're paying for good marketing.

If you're after looks, have you considered just getting the bonnet wrapped with carbon fibre vinyl?
If you're hood was painted properly, the vinyl will not damage it. Rather, it will protect the paint from the sun.

You may have one or two seams where the vinyl is overlapped, but these can only be noticed if you're within a few feet, and looking for them - trust me.

The decent brands are a CF shell on a fiberglass skeleton. The cheap crap is a fiberglass hood with a CF overlay.

I have a Fiber Images hood that was on my car for a few years, until it faded.
My friend has a VIS hood.

Both fit very well. Seibon is another big brand that should fit just fine.

To be honest, unless you're SERIOUSLY racing in a class that allows modifications (many will penalize you for such things), the lightest possible hood is pointless. You're getting it for looks, no more.
