05 Legacy Outback rear wheel bearing issue.

My mom's 05 Outback wagon seems to be having a rear wheel bearing issue (driver's side.) Every time she makes a right turn, a grinding sound can be heard from that wheel. She just had the brakes fixed all around, and she fears something may have been damaged in the process (I know little of Subarus.)

Anyway, my main question is: if it is the wheel bearing, is it something that is likely to survive a few more days (and a few hundred miles), or is it something urgent enough to get her car in the shop ASAP?

Normally I'd err on the side of caution and tell her to get it in the shop immediately, but it would be a bit of an inconvenience (and expense) for her to do so before the end of the week. She needs the car for work (and no, she can't borrow the CTS-V... )

Wheel bearing usually makes a humming noise and is affected by speed, not usually a grinding noise on turns. That sounds more like a diff lubrication issue.
    wat?

If its grinding, I'd check the brakes over. They could've messed up the install. But its hard for me to diagnose without actually hearing/seeing/feeling.

since it is tuesday nite and deev hasn't posted anything else, i will say this

let her use the CTS-V, i had a wheel bearing failure in my 89 Lebaron and it was not fun.

or have her take it right back to the brake installer and have them go over the rear again. when she brought it in there was no noise, why is there a noise now

That's my thinking. She's had it back to the shop twice for various things, and doesn't feel it's fixed. It's an awkward situation, since the building is owned by my stepfather, and the man renting it is the owner of the business that has so poorly fixed the car. My mom is like me... she doesn't want to keep going back in and acting all high and mighty because she's the landlord's wife. So it seems she'd rather just deal with it and quietly never give her business to them again.

My stepdad is taking the car to work with him tomorrow (he works at another dealership now), so hopefully they'll get it fixed quick.

She'd crash the CTS-V. I've had her drive my Fit before (which is also in the shop with AC issues), and she's bad enough at that!

i hope you are not saying that your mom is a typical jersey driver

hope your stepdad finds the problem
