Prelude SH on craigslist for 2000. Needs crankshaft replacemnt

I'm honestly not sure if I should be posting this here or in off-topic, because it does deal with an engine some of us are familiar with...

    http://norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/2545581335.html

I've already emailed the guy asking how he diagnosed the crankshaft problem and asked if anything else needed to be replaced additionally...

Really, I'd like to hear from you guys on how hard it would be to replace a crankshaft in a H22 and whether I should go about replacing anything else, should I go through with this.

not worth the asking price, crankshafts arent the cheapest things to be replaced and usually need machining to be matched up with the rods and such. plus theres not telling what else the block might need if the crank went bad

Chances are, if the crankshaft needs to be replaced, many more things need to be replaced. Possibly the entire engine.

This actually belongs in the "other automotive" section. I'll move it for you.
However, this was a better choice than Off Topic. I HATE when people ask technical questions in OT. It just shows that they're too lazy to find the right area, and impatient and selfish enough to put it in the one area that will be sure to get the most views.

        That is worth IMO.

        Reasons Why:

Yank H22 and rebuild it put in CB
        Sell F22A
        5 lug Swap
        5 Lug Rims
        Gut the interior
        Place all in CB
        Good to go!

        Sell the shell!

that H22 is a PITA to rig up with a non-ATTS transmission

Pretty much the only thing I can hope for here is that everything else in the block is okay and that this was professionally diagnosed.

A new OEM crank from Majestic Honda is 820 before shipping.

No one really answered how hard it'd be to replace the crank, only that I would run into problems with matching up a new crank with a worn block. Which is a really good point.

EDIT: I realize that the regulars here either hit "new posts" or actually look at the bottom of the page. So hopefully I'm getting better advice in here.

$2000 for the car. Lets say $1500 for a new motor online.

$3500 for a BB6 is a steal. Unless you just want the motor.

random "crankshaft problem" in a cheap used car == just get a new motor, and sell the head off the old one.

                i agree with PointBlank
