well last night about 100 of my friends and i witnessed the first street racing crash in our city. we were cruisin through the downtown when a civic and an accord whipped pass and decided to race at the next light. they were doing 120kmph around an S curve in the road and the civics back end swung out to the right. he then over corrected and ended up turning his car completely sideways. the drivers door was directly in line with a tree. the car hit the tree at around 100kmph and then hit an apartment. the driver was kill on impact and the passenger is in critical condition. the driver of the accord left the scene.
it's made me think alot about speeding and racing and i really changed my priorities on what i want to do to my car.
it's a shame to see somebody die right in front of you for something as stupid as a race, he didn't deserve to die. he just made a mistake. it's thanksgiving here in Canada this weekend, and it's said to think that while most people are giving thanks for what they have there is a family out there suffering from a terrible loss.
i had my camera on me and i took about 20 pictures of the car and the scene imediatly after it happened, but out of respect for the victim and his family i am going to hand those pictures to the police and then delete them from my hard drive. here is the one picture i decided to keep though to remind me that street racing isn't worth it.
take it to the track
