and about Grossingers, yeah thats weird with the window in the pool. i talked to my mom about this place (she knew alllllll about it when it was very popular) and she said yes, it was a window and you could see everybodys legs flailing around as they swam lol. i think she mentioned that there may have been a bar at the bottom? i dont think its anything big or exciting, but i wish i could have at least looked down in there lol.

Yesterday my friend John and I took advantage of Veterans day and went exploring. we checked out two places, but unfortunately werent able to actually go IN to either of them.
first was the
Borden Milk Plant
It is along the Wallkill River between two towns very close to johns house. We have always known about it but it appeared to have activity in the parking lot out front and the lack of a place to park (right on the road along the water) weve never actually looked into it until recently.
It was originally a milk plant like i said, but later was an automobile factory, then turned into a plant that made "General Slicing Machines." From there, the building partially burned (oil/grease fires that lasted for HOURS) and has been left ever since.
so our expedition started on the walden "rail trail" which is a recently paved-over rail line that went through some local towns, and has been converted into a walking trail. this runs directly behind the area.
this is an aerial shot looking at the back of the building (front is against the street). you can see the path we took through the tall grass in the back, where the random trucks are scattered.

this is a view looking down the rail trail.

looking off to the right, you see the back of the building and a couple trucks.

a little closer...

first thing we approached was an old trailer.

we made it to the building! this is looking to the left. note teh telephone pole...

and this is looking to the right

and then as soon as we got to this open doorway, we took a step in and.....

...find a SECURITY CAMERA!
we noticed that the power lines leading to the pole were still active, and the power meter on the building was ACTIVE. not ticking (not being actively used) butttt it was powered. so i was looking at the meter, while john was stepping into the doorway, which is when he noticed the camera. unfortuantely i dont have any pictures after this point, because we took off running lmao.
so later that day, we checked out the Lafayette Paper Mill, which is amazingly close to my house (less than 15 minutes) but ive never known about it! we scoped out the area and checked out the campus to see how easily it could be explored, and the place is ENORMOUS, tons and tons of machinery, and lots of wide open doors. it was late and dark when we went, so i have no pictures... we will be going back soon (maybe this weekend) to actually explore inside the building and take pictures, so look for those later!
