I know that Chris is definitely looking into a Harbor Freight jack, and I've heard nothing but good things from them.

i impulsively bought a craftsman low-pro one when i walked into the store to find they were on sale for $99... been loving it ever since!! its the only jack ive had that actually fits under the front of my car... ive broken 3 jacks (2 walmart, one standard craftsman one) thus far and this ones holding up good. i try to treat it nice. its fantastic because its 1-pump to set on the vehicle, then standard pumps to raise it. raises to a good height too, higher than the standard ones.

this page might be of some help, this is the jack i have compared to the similar HF one.

personally i wouldnt use a HF one... harbor freight is known to produce semi low-end (but very useful and affordable) tools for the non-professional... but that comes with a tradeoff in quality, and as often as i use a jack (and how much i trust that its going to hold my 1-ton, multi-thousand dollar vehicle in the air) it better be good...

I've used a large variety of floor jacks. Here's a thread I made about it a while back, it list most of the ones I have broken too. Right now I'm at stock height, so I haven't picked up a new low profile jack yet.

Happy B-Day manz. Mines today or yesterday now, (18 )

I havent had a problem with jacks not fitting yet, but. Dont you only need it to hold up for a little bit, just untill you put the jack stands underneath?

I too have a craftsman jack which is leaking oil and I no longer trust. I'm in the process of trying to find a decent low pro jack myself.

i have the 1.5 torin lo pro you were talking about, i bought mine at pep boys for 100 bucks 2 yrs ago and not a single prob. not sure how low it goes but it fits under my cb. i think it lifts 18 inches. its been a good jack aluminum too.

^^^ That's what I was hoping to hear!

The Torin Jack I have my eye on is this one...
                Model: T815005L
                Low profile aluminum floor jack
                Saddle rotates 360-degrees
                Rubber pad to prevent marring
                Dual side grip handles
4 pumps w/exclusive dual cylinder design
                2-piece handle w/machined non-slip knurled area
                Lifting capacity: 3,000 lbs. (rated)
                Saddle height: 3.35"
                Height (max): 14.76"
                Weight: 26.4 lbs.

Available at Costco but currently out of stock at a 3 of the Costco's near me.. So I am checking into where else they are sold, since I would like to take a look at one before buying it..

EDIT: Anyone know of any other stores/shops that sell these Jacks? I found Northern Tool in Des Moines, IA and Costco.. Other then that I can't seem to find a dealer locator or any dealers within 20 miles of me.. Des Moines is looking about as close as it is going to get and who knows when the next time is I will be up there..
