My fun day of suspension work...

So I learned some things on my day of working on my suspension!

#1 - You should always take stupid pictures of yourself with the components before you put them on...

#2 - When you put lots of torque on a 3/8" extention, you shouldn't expect it to remain functional...

#3 - Tires irons don't just have to be used on tires! The can help you remove pesky LCA bolts too!

#4 - You shouldn't spray PB Buster or WD-40 in your eyes...you'll end up flushing your eyes out like this (yes, I took the picture WHILE doing this).

#5 - Bricks are used for houses...but they can and should be used to line up your LCA bolts when reinstalling your suspension!

#6 - There's nothing better than sitting back and admiring your hard work when you get done.

I'm almost completely done. I just have to install my new UCAs on the front and torque the mount bolts back down to spec and then give her a good wash/wax before my girlfriend gets here tomorrow! I'll get some pics of her after a couple of weeks once everything is settled. As it is right now I think I'm sitting at 2 3/4 to 3 fingers gap all around. I know it'll be fine once everything is torqued and settled. I'm VERY happy to have this done with.

do you have access to a welder?

BEST CURE FOR SNAPPED BOLT HEADS!!!!!!

weld a small piece of copper pipe between the broken off head and the rest of the bolt, then proceed to take it off. make sure you use thick-walled pipe, and weld it on well. make sure you grease the fucker with some liquid wrench or something and give it a few good whacks to loosen it before you try to unbolt it again. also might wanna try to get your hands on a torch.

sweet... i just re-did my suspension and switched out my coilovers for a set of neuspeed race springs. which springs are those? 2 3/4 - 3 finger gap sound like the neuspeed sport, which they look like too.

They're Race, but like I said...they haven't had time to settle. I didn't really expect them to lower me 2.25" out of the box...I think so far it has lowered me about 1.5". That extra .75" should come within the next week or so!

Oh, and to do a shameless plug, SWERVE Motorsports hooked me up with those springs on ebay. REALLY nice guy named Paul runs it and he's got almost everything set-up for his domain. If you see their stuff for sale, bid with confidence!

Already picked the place out and everything! I'm going to take it in and tell them to give me a print-out of where she stands and where the specs are. Then I'll determine what kind of camber kit I need, install it myself, and take it back to them to have them do the full alignment. I'm HOPING they won't charge much extra to just do the print-out. They seem like nice enough guys.

Man... bricks... that's all I needed! Freakin LCA bolts! I had my girlfriend whacking the bolt in, my 45 year old neighbor standing on the hub, while I looked into the thing with a flashlight waiting to see it come in contact with the threads! Bricks!

Suspension isn't too hard, but it can sure be frustrating. I can't wait to do the suspension on the hatchback... Putting stock springs back on... oooooh yeah!

hows the ride? I bet really smooth..I jsut installed some maxspeed coilovers, at around 650 rate per corner..man, it's not gonna bottom out anytime soon! it is stiff as hell!!!!! Anyway, I GOTTA get some shocks, and an alignment..I will take it to work for that, but how much where those shocks? I am deciding between those, and illuminas...price will by my deciding factor, since they are pretty darn close in ratings by other members..

They ran me about $340 total on ebay/tirerack (I bought the front and rear seperate...retard that I am ). They sell for about $320 on ebay, and they're damn good. I haven't tested tham yet, but I will today in a couple of hours ocne those damn front UCAs get replaced.

Yeah, I was having a killer time trying to get the hub/knuckle down far enough. Then as I was walking into my apartment I saw a couple of bricks that my upstairs neighbor had "given" me. It's kinda tough to get the shock to balance on them at first since you have to make sure the hub/knuckle doesn't catch on them but once you get going it's pretty easy. You kinda gotta make sure to keep a bit of pressure on the shock and hold it back for it to line up just right.
