      my friends dads mercedes does this, it takes like 8.5 qts and it'll tell you to add more or if its full... stupid i think

        I'm gonna check this out tomorrow at work, but now that you mention it I haven't seen a dipstick on a any of the new BMW's I have seen, but then again I haven't really been looking

            I personally work for bmw and the 3-series does not have a dipstick but you can see threw the bc button scroll threw and see it but you have to wait till the oil reaches operating temp

                Spoke to the head tech at the BWM dealership and saw for myself that indeed no there isent a dipstick and he said there were some faulty sensors for the 3 series, but all the other models were fine. Also he said that for driver to check the oil level in the car the engine must be running for a certain amount of time before it gives a reading inside the car. This is a good idea because there is quite a bit of oil still circulating normally when people check their oil levels manually, so this reading is much more acurate then when we do it manually.

                        I just found out, that some of the new Benz models don't have them either. Must be a German engineering thing to make money.
