    Ricers Anonymous...

Hello, my name is y2knowledge and I'm a ricer.

Let me begin by saying that my Honda started it's life as a normal 92 Accord EX. Since then it's had an aluminum wing upgrade, Type S badging, Acura badges, Altezzas, banners and a number of other worthless stickers. I have no freakin clue how I once thought my car looked cool and I'm now embarrassed at the very car I own and drive. If I had the choice I would never post a pic of my car because in comparison to the rest of the gorgeous rides on here mine is just an eyesore.

So, in light of these facts I've decided that I'm going to strip every single facet of riceness off of my car. The paint job on the car isn't looking too hot these days and is chipping in some spots, but that doesn't really matter anymore since I'm going to pull off that ridiculous wing, stickers, and anything else rice related. If anyone knows what else I can do to un-rice my car then by all means please let me know. I want to be able to post a pic of my car, be proud of it and have people think it looks good like uncle_el, accordtunerx, usc's rides do.

Any help for this self confessed ricer would be much appreciated! Thanks for reading and I hope that this is in the correct forum. If not then please let me know!...

there is nothing wrong with being riced-out. if you are proud of your car why bother with what other people care. yes my car is some what riced out (no wing) but i plan a kit. stikers represent what you got. don't get me wrong the jdm look is cool but also so is some of the ricers. fix it up the way you like and be cool about it. looks are cool but what matters is what is under the hood! you can be totally rice and blow doors off of vettes or you can be jdm and lose to a pinto.

I hear you there bro. Thing is after careful consideration as well as talking to a lot of people like Lithium, El, and Xplode as well as seeing most of their rides I've come to the conclusion that stock is better, IMO. I mean, yeah, there are some pretty nice rice-mobiles out there but that's not me anymore. To me that shows off a younger look that I really don't want anymore. Plus I have children now that ride with me and when you get people drving crazy, cutting you off and doing other dumb shit it get's very dangerous. Stickers, wings, and other stuff like that to me are a thing of the past and it doesn't really fit the theme of what I think a good car should look like. I used to be proud of my car but I'm not anymore. The whole cosmetic look just went all to hell and I have no clue how I let it get to the point it is now. Thanks for the reply!...

to me, the only way you'll get me to put a sticker on the car is that you pay me to do it. (stickers that are on the aftermarket parts comes w/ the parts so that's not what i'm referring to) i don't want to advertise to others what's on my car. it's like telling some thief, "hey, don't pass me up, i got all these goodies that makes it more worthwhile to steal me."

and my opinion is that the available body kits out there doesn't make our cars look better. (remember, just my opinion) but whatever floats yer boat is fine by me. stickers without sponsorship seems kinda desperate for attention. only to be topped by stickers without actual parts on the car. now THAT is pathetic.

Actually, the stickers I have have the actual part on my car, cept for the Acura and Type S badging, as well as the Altezzas and whatnot. As for your comment it's cars like yours that made me want to revert my car back to it's original splendor. I mean yeah, if I were to see your car in comparison to a body kitted ricer I would choose the yours any day...

USC, Accordtunerx, Uncle_el and myself aren't condoning you to change of the look of your car. Do what you want with it; we could care less. We just prefer that kind 'look/presence' to 'our' cb7's. We're not trying to 'cleanse' the world of 'rice' either. That's just our aesthetic opinion.

bottom line; do what you want and not what everyone else thinks or says.

Everyone thinks my white honda badge in the back of my car is rice. Does it look like I give a fuck? Hell no... it's my car and I do what the hell I want with it.

            Do what you want man.

haha... usc- if i had a choice between stealing ur "stock" car or a ricemobile, i would steal ur car dont worry cuz i wont, but ur car is sexy yeah i know how u feel y2k. ive never personally liked the "rice" look, but people do, ive always been a fan of keeping the stock body, and maybe going for a cleaner look (clear lenses, painting sidemouldings, etc). but its cool tho, if thats what u liked, then thats cool. if you dont like it now, changing it back to stock is cool too

I understand that Lithium, I never said anything as such to promote an idea like that. I know that once I saw your car as well as the others I knew that what I had now wasn't what I wanted anymore. Not to mention the fact that by simply looking at your cars they are more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Once in a while ago I thought the whole rice look was awesome and ever since that's what I wanted my car to be since at the time they looked "cool". Now, less is more and the simple stock look with minor changes has very pleasing look to me. Lord knows what I was thinking when I bought that aluminum wing!...

Everyone thinks my white honda badge in the back of my car is rice. Does it look like I give a fuck? Hell no... it's my car and I do what the hell I want with it.
Actually, it looks awesome with the white emblem. Thing is, I have a blue Acura symbol on mine when we all know my car is no Acura ...

most enthusiasts goes through the 'rice-aroni' phase at some point ; I sure did (and I prefer not to share the details )

Don't get your panties in a bunch over this; and don't be ashamed of driving your car either.

Look at me for instance; ever since I took my rims, lip, amber corners off, and wen't to a near bone stock look; I have had a number of PM's saying WHY OH WHY DID YOU DO IT... honestly it's because I just felt like it. Nothing wrong with a stock looking accord. I get less attention from other people which is something I prefer more and more these days.

thanks for the compliments man. i don't think of my car as all that, but it's nice to know someone else does.

to a certain degree, modding/modifying/changing/customizing your ride/whip/car is all about what YOU like. some people go through fazes, some don't. whether your car is all show, all go, a little of both, a lot of both, or a whole lot of nothing, in the end it's about your personal preference.

i personally don't go for large spoilers/wings on our rides, but damn, i know the 1st thing i ever wanted to do to my car was to get a big supra type wing. never got it, but i know that i wanted it a few years back.

a lot of people have gone through fazes with their rides. just remember, that which doesn't kill you can only make you stronger.

this is a very good thread. it really puts the whole 'ricer' idea into perspective. it is true that you should do what you want to your own car. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. it seems as though your 'eye' is viewing car modification a bit different now though (stock/clean vs. 'rice'). that's all.

and just for the record, i don't know many people who never went through the 'ricer' phase... or at least thought about adding 'ricey' mods...

i had a little bit more of a moderate case... but i still had blue washer lights, rolled around w/ no wipers, windshield banners, and sported one sick negative camber for the longest time:

i would have probably bought the altezzas too if they made them for the coupe models.

i still have my type r keychain... *sniff* it's just so hard to let go of some rice...

well... i was trying to show an example of a picture from a time that i thought my car was 'rice', lol... but i guess people still liked the look of it even back then.

this just proves my point though: something that you might not think looks nice, may look good to someone else... and vice versa.
