ive never done a 360 but i've done 3 different no-swap ps2 modchip installs. each was about 21-27 wires. you need to be really careful on the bottom of the motherboard because the points are laminated and if you scrape off too much you damage the traces and if you don't scrape off enough you can't get a clean solder connection.

yeah my x360 is sitting in pieces on my desk, have to find time to finish it up, i just cant get the drive into modeb.

btw mike, just update the firmware on the dvd drive with the 360 to play backups.

then i dont believe there is any way to mod it to keep xbox live play, unless you buy the game, it will still work.i think didnt really check up on t hat..

but i finally flashed and updated my firmware this morning, and everything works perfect, just got done playing some fight night round 3, and lots more games to burn

if you want the pdf file to walk you through it, let me know

thats why i decided to go with the globe360 chip.

all it really is is just an external rom chip for the dvd drive, but its controlled depending on how you press the xbox's power button. tap it quickly and it boots with the chip enabled, give it a good press, and itll boot with the chip disabled. and its got an LED to indicate status... those two features alone make it worth it, dual-function modded xbox that can still go on live without a problem.

im considering using a reed switch to disconnect power to the network jack when the chip is turned on.
