90mph is a lot more acceptable to me than 120. Going 85 on the freeways here in Cali is just going with the flow sometimes. I never get above 90 tho. And I usually just cruise at 75-80.
However, in San Jo there seems to be a shitload of cops on the freeways lately.

Lol! I feel your pain. Those bastards seem to crawl out of my trunk most of time.
On speeding:
Sometimes it is necessary to avoid a larger issue. When traffic gets all piled up because of some (or several) asshats in front that don't want to flow, and refuse to move, it is actually safer to cut to a hole in front of them and get the fuck out of Dodge.
The ABSOLUTE LAST THING you want in a situation such as heavy traffic, an airplane, or any other properly piloted vehicle for that matter is to be put in a postition where you have NO options.
Being wedged in between cars with no lane to change to is leaving yourself with no options. Riding in the lane where traffic merges is leaving you with fewer options. Being in rush hour leaves you with fewer options. Tailgating, impeding the flow of traffic, not reaching the merge point at the speed of traffic is leaving you with fewer options.
Eventually, if you combine enough of these occuring, you have no real way to not get involved in an accident.
Getting stuck in a pack of yahoos with no where to go is putting yourself in a place with no options.
Bad JUJU.
The ultimate goal when driving, the absolute underlying premise that should drive all decision making processes, should be to get from Point A to Point B safely, in tact and in one piece.
If you get in the middle of a 50 car pileup, you are more likely to get fucked up than if you speed for 10 seconds to get out of that situation and never have to deal with a pileup at all because it occured behind you.
Our system has engrained us to believe that if we speed, we are automatically going to die, and that just isn't true.
Speeding excessively is dangerous, or speed in a situation where speeding isn't going to help is dangerous.
Cutting holes that you can't fit in while speeding is very dangerous.
But when used with some common sense and experience, it has saved my ass more than once.
Of course, in order to correctly apply it you have to actually anticipate what is going to occur, and you have to be intelligent enough to realize there is more to driving than just steering.Last edited by owequitit; 10-16-2006, 09:34 PM.

Apperently you didn't read the deleted thread from the guy posting about wrecking his Neon.
Everyone was bashing him for speeding and saying he deserved to wreck.
Eaither way. Speeding is stupid. And when I say that I mean going 90 in a 55, and stupid shit. so don't get off on "Everyone speeds a little". Going 60 in a 55 is normal driving, but going 90 in a 55 is stupid.Last edited by 4thgenaccord; 10-16-2006, 10:00 PM.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw, i was on the freeway, where everyone goes 75-80... when cruisin in light traffic. so me going 90 to pass/change lanes, isnt that big a deal. the point of this thread wasnt to brag about going 90 and getting away with it. i was simply stating that i got pulled over for the first time, in the tl. speeding just happened to be the reason why.
and on top of that, i wasnt racing or speeding for the hell of it. i just had a sudden burst of speed to change lanes and get ahead of a slower car... then i slowed down back to the flow of the surrounding traffic. it just so happened, that for those few seconds i was speeding, a cop spotted me.Last edited by DrLove'sKuDang; 10-16-2006, 11:00 PM.
