most of you probably remember me bitching about our work janitor putting the paper towel and toilet paper rolls on the spools backwards, so the loose end is against the wall.
it was mentioned that that method was correct and helps keep paper scrap wasteages down to a minimum.
i doubt that he "knows how to do it right" because (ill lay it out nice and clear) - hes an idiot.
this is the clean garbage can that i see every morning. note its empty, and it has a fresh bag. so, hes doing his job (heh) but if you notice, what the hell is with how he put the bag in?

he puts the bag in the can, then proceeds to PULL THE SIDES ALL THE WAY DOWN so the bag in the center is just about at the top of the can. so a 13 gallon can has been effectively reduced to a 1 gallon. he then ties the sides into a tight knot. you cant relaly see it in the pic but the available garbage storage room is only 4-5".

this causes two issues:
1. as you can see, the can is tapered and this makes it so the bag is too tight to move, so even if you try to push the bag down, it doesnt move; and
2. the bag basically seals to the can from how tight he makes it that it seals in 12 gallons of air, that makes it even MORE impossible to push down by hand.
every morning i need to cut a tiny hole in the center of the bag and stretch the outsides and fix the stupid thing.
my boss left a note on the can one night: "please put bag in correctly"... we came the next morning to a note asking us to let him know what we want done (!?) so she wrote a longer note explaining that he should not pull the bag all the way over, so theres room to throw garbage in. well, that was last night. and guess what. i came in this morning and took the picture you see above.
it really sucks throwing something into the garbage can and having it actually BOUNCE OFF OF THE BAG and bounce out and fall behind it somewhere under the counter. and it sucks even more having a janitor that cant comprehend a VERY simple note and apply it to his job.
