    A family of Honda's

Can't say we don't keep it in the family, we bought another honda. This time for my brother.

Until he gets his license and insurance in line, it stays in my possession. So I'm doing the maintenance it needs until then. As I started the rain came down on me but it let up enough after a while. Today I did:

    New rotors
    New pads (akebonos are nice)
    Oil change (with filter)
Swapped the tires from front to back (they really need to be replaced)
    Air filter change
Windshield wipers (always buy the best bosch you can find)

I was hoping to do the trans fluid (auto) but the guy who sells the honda stuff locally is closed for the holiday weekend.

I cleaned the interior up, febreeze and armor-all. When all the doors are shut moisture builds on the windows. The used car joint that we bought it from probably did some carpet cleaning but didn't let it dry. Then again it might be a bad seal, likely on the sunroof. Anyway I put damprid in to soak up the moisture and I'll go from there.

Tomorrow I'll probably do the plugs and maybe the plug wires. Oh and the spolier (stock) was loose for some reason, but of course I got it tightened down.

So now we have in our driveway....

    An 04 Civic si (dad)
    An 03 Accord lx (mom)
    A 90 accord (me)
and a 98 Civic ex (soon to be my bros)

    AS WELL AS (another breath)

my sister has an ej civic as well, dx I think

    Family of 5, 5 hondas, 3 civics, 2 accords

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

your whole family has good taste. i wonder how many times your respective cars have left you stranded, if at all?

heh, no I've had those for a while, safety first and all that.

my bro had a saturn, it got creamed by a bad driver, while it was parked.

some woman ran into it while it was parked at the library, nice huh?

I always told him to buy an early 90's civic or a cb7, but he has it stuck in his mind that anything older then a few years will be a money pit. Then again he knows very little about cars (I'm his mechanic basically).

Other than it being an automatic this is a pretty nice car. I just hope, pray he doesn't rice it. I don't think he will, I will beat him if he does. If he absolutely has to modify it, it has to be clean and respectable, or I'll refuse to help him with it.

Also, I wanted to add that this was the first time I changed rotors and changing the rotors on that civic was a lot easier than I thought it would be! Rotor over hub wins.

One day the time will come I have to pull my rotors off, they don't need to be replaced but I hope to upgrade. I dread the hub over rotor, I see it in nightmares sometimes.

sounds like somebody needs to teach their little bro how to work on it properly

And as for being left stranded...

            My moms accord - never
            my dads si - never
my accord - once (alternator seized, tried to catch fire)
my sisters civic - once, her radiator sprung a leak. But it gave her a days warning, and after a quick trip to the mechanic and about $100-150 and one day later it was back and ready for action.

Honestly though, they've always failed at reasonable moments, and were back on the road quickly. Luckily for me, when my alt. seized I had the day off and was just out cruising when it happened.

Then again I wouldn't call either of our incidents "stranded" my car would've started and ran if I wanted it too, at least until the battery ran down :P and my sis could've just kept dumping water in her radiator until she got to the mechanic....

I can't wait to, and I've tried but he's just not interested in cars. They're just something that gets him from point a to point b.

I tried to show him how to change oil/filter.
I tried to show him how to change a tire in case of a flat.
I tried to show him how to change his battery.
I tried to show him how to change his brake pads.
              etc his headlight bulbs
              etc his wiper blades
              etc his coolant
etc etc etc etc, so on, so on

He takes his car to a shop to change his oil, I just want to smack him.

But like I said he refuses to learn, he's not interested

Really neat thing you got going with the cars. Im in the same boat as you man. My bro just got a del sol and I'm helping him out with installing and some advice but he's pretty car savy himself.

                Older bro - 93 300zx 5-speed
                Me - 92 Accord 5-Speed
                Little bro - 93 Del Sol 5-Speed

Hopefully your brother lightens up and becomes interested and maybe even hooked. I know all of us are.

                ...adjust accordingly

When I came home for my dinner break today I saw the parking lot was full of Honda's. I decided to take a few pictures.

I don't know why photobucket doesn't resize these to one size...it seems to like to pick and choose....anyways

I'm the only one in my family that's ever owned a honda...this is my third one too. For some reason no one in my family will get a foreign car except for one of my sister's with a toyota solara.

Its almost the opposite for us, we don't buy domestic anymore. We've all owned domectic cars that were nothing but a big let down.

Of course they weren't like corvettes, they weren't worthwhile domestics. We've had tempo's, escorts, taurus's, etc. Never again, unless they learn to make good cars.
