Deaths, Injuries Prompt Recall Of Inflatable Tow Tube
About 19,000 Wego Kite Tubes, imported by Sportsstuff Inc., are being recalled after reports that people have been seriously injured or have died while using the tubes, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
The CPSC said it was award of 39 reports of injuries with 29 of those injuries requiring medical treatment.
The injuries include a broken neck, punctured lung, chest and back injuries and facial injuries.
Sportsstuff said it has also received reports of two deaths.
The company has been unable to determine the cause of the injuries, but is recalling the kite tube as a precaution.
The yellow, circular tubes are 10-foot-wide inflatable floats designed to be pulled behind a power boat. Riders fly into the air when they pull the handles on the tube's floor.
The cover for the product bears a skull and crossbones and the statement, "Never Kite higher than you are willing to fall.
The tubes were imported and sold through marine distributors, mail order catalogs and various retailers from October 2005 until July 2006 for about $500 to $600.

. but im not going to, ever. i would recomend not ever using one.
