    Gotta love Northern cars

I'm from the South... Nashville, TN to be exact. We don't have rust here... and if you do have it, it's few and far between and not a big issue.

Anyways, I bought my CD from New Jersey from a member here. The car is great and I'm not complaining about it technically but... any Northerner here can understand what I, a Southerner, am now going through

    Anyways..

Buying the car I noticed that it had some patchwork done on the body under the gas door as seen here:

(picture was taken after I lowered it and put the 'Ludes on there)

Here is a closeup of the discoloration:

It is bubbled up somewhat and this perturbs me (I think that's the correct spelling). I was 99% sure it was bondo'd rust since I checked it with a magnet and it did not stick... well today I decided "F*ck it" and sanded it down...

Ah... the beauties of buying a Northern car...

Well, anyways, I sanded it down smooth and repainted the area that was already painted. No, the touch up area STILL does not match the rest of the car. Apparantly, my color only comes in "touch up" paint in the little pen. Seattle Silver from the CB7s is available in the spray can but not Cashmere Silver... so I got the only can that said "Cashmere" on it. I'll post up pics tomorrow of it repainted.

Yeah mine was bubbled up somewhat too but it's hard to see in the second picture.

Hopefully I smoothed it out enough where it'll be nice.

I've had a couple of leads on where to get the paint so if all turns out well I might tape it off and repaint it again sometime here soon.

it looks bubbled up because of just a crappy bondo job... be extremely happy, most of us who sand down anything end up finding gobs of rust and rotting holes. i see clean metal under there!

thats the best picture of it I could get. you can kinda see it, its bubbling a little, and you can REALLY see how shitty of a repair job they did on it. especially around the lip of the wheel well.

as a lot of people on this board know, rust sucks MAJOR ass. my first cb was a rust bucket and so i dumped it. i think one of your damn northern cb7 made its way to Oregon! actually I should check out the carfax on that cb7. i'm curious to see where it was originally from. hopefully i can find the VIN.

the car I saw with the worst rust problem ever was a first gen teggy. the whole under carrage was rotted out. you could kick the side of the car and pieces of metal would just fall out all over the place. I seriously didn't feel safe riding in the car. Just think if we would of got into a wreck. The thing would of shattered like the T-1000 in Terminator 2!
