    Question on importing

OK this may sound a little far fetched but, I did some thinking and a little bit of research.

Since Motorex has ceased operations due to the legal issues the owner went thru, I hear that our friends up north can easily obtain Skylines there. Now I know some of us here are die hard Skyline fans (I'm talking like since day one, I personally grew up around them so their nothing new.)

And I'm wondering it would be just as easy to buy one up there and bring down here.

I've also seen a lot of Canadian only models. Acura EL (which I just saw yesterday here on US soil) Nissan X-trail ( counted at least 5 in Upstate New York) and the Echo coupe ( a rebadged Yaris and Ive seen two of these so far).

Would it be easy to just buy one up there and own it here without any legal troubles?

The Acura EL I saw yesterday was a 2001-04 model aww man so sexy.

For anyone whos familiar with the Canadian version of the United States' NTHSA what are they're set standards aside from having DRL's standard on almost every car sold there.

i did a lot of reasearching on this(not about canada) but importing....you could probably buy one there and get it down here somewhat easy....the hard part is registering it..something that has to be done to drive the car. Now i dont know how canada works on vins but when these dudes were importing Skylines from Japan they were having trouble getting the DMV to accept the weird Japanese Vin # because i guess in Japan they use - and shit like that so it was weird...well the dude said in the interview that he took out the - and added some zeros and it took it but he is driving around in a car that is technically illegally registered...so long story short that would be the hard part i think...and then getting major parts or work might not be so simple either but i dont think that would be an issue because you can find shit if u look hard enough and u can damn near fabricate whatever u need with the right experience and patience so let us know about dis 1!

the law in the US is you can import a car without all the safety conversions if its older than 25 years old, that doesnt do us any good... the law in canada is 15 years, which FYI gives a couple years of CB's that should be importable no problem. issue is getting it there, and having a canadian resident accept it and go thru the paperwork to register it, just to turn around and "sell" it to you...
