    Visual Basic...

For those of you that know it, how did you learn it. I have an interested client and I want to learn it. Any tips? There is a ton of learning material on eBay, I just want to make sure I get something legit.

    Thanks,
    Adam

I took a class a few years ago, it was a required course. It is pretty easy, especially if you know other laungages. What exactly are you trying to do?

Sweet, yea I am possibly going to have a job for a fairly huge client. Building a "quote" type data base. If I can score it, it would mean HUGE money over the summer! Huge Money.

      Thanks bro,

      Anyone have anything else?

if you know any other languages, VB is a breeze... i learned it by sitting down and just starting to program in it, half the time MS VB fills in the code for you, once you start typing a function name itll pop up suggestions and itll tell you how to use each one...

ill make the app if u give me half the cut... haha

get one of those "21 days" books... itll take longer than 21 days, more like 21 weeks, but they are good books

I tried to teach myself when I was 17 and learned how to make some basic programs, but just lost intrest after a while. I had a friend that mastered it and was completely self taught, so I don't think it's that difficult.

i learned VB 4 when i was like 9-10 years old..i remember making a grade average calculator. VB is really easy, what kind of database is this? im not sure i would choose VB if i were making a database application. especially if it was something i could make in PHP/MySQL

i was going to suggest the same thing, but php/sql is a little more difficult to pick up from scratch, but definately is the much easier way to do it if you know both languages. php/sql is my personal combo of choice... then for apps, i still prefer basic (yes, quickbasic, very powerful if you know how to use it properly, which takes at least 6+ years) and if i need to make the app windows friendly, ill crack open VB. never felt the need to learn more than basic C++ yet, so i hardly use that.
