New Project Car

I love my Honda, its a real joy for a daily driver and cruisin around(25mpg) but I do not see myself keeping my Honda after college. Well this car is definately nothing close to new. It's a 1984 BMW 533i. This was my first car before I wrecked it and my mom said it was dangerous because it was old. Well it has been sitting in our driveway for the past six months and my begging and pleading has finally payed off I believe.

My new project car






The car has a 3.5L 6cyc engine. Somewhere around 180 horsepower and 265 torque. Very fun to drive. Once body and everything is repaired I'm planning on installing a turbo. 8.8 compression just like my f22.
Will be using most of the knowledge I got here about turbos and body work to do this job. This is not a farewell but a thank you for a very informational site. I learned a hell of a lot more here than I ever did at any other Honda site.

Whoa...old school 535.

My friend has one of these she got from the junkyard for sometime like $400. She's already sourced the M5 front end and a few other neat parts.

Did Alpina ever make parts for this gen 5-series?

I'll get you some engine pictures as soon as I can get my hood open. Accident bent the latch so I might be getting out my sawzaw or grinder. Will come soon though.

Actually its a 533i which is even more rare. Parts are similar between the 535 and the 533 I believe. I'm looking into aftermarket products once I get the whole car up to par. I believe they did make the Alpina version for this car.

yeah but if he's working on it and a tire blows out and stuff shifts, he could lose a thumb. or get an eye poked out. plus, if he decides to roll it down to a body shop or something, new tires will be better than towing it on messed up ones.

Funny you mention a blow out though. I had a blow out about 2-3 weeks before the big accident happened. I think the tire is still in the tunk. I'll snap a couple of it when I do the engine pics.

I got the hood open today. It was starting to get dark so I took a couple quick pictures.

This could put a big hold up on the project(not that the grand I owe my dad isn't a hold up).
And the blown tire. This happened going 60mph on 680. Didn't hit anyone...that time


I got the bumper off but it was too dark to take pictures so it will have to wait till the weekend.

Good luck with that one, looks like you have quite a bit of work ahead of you. I do love BMW's though, I looked into getting an E30 3 Series for a month or so. Hope it turns out well.

Well made some progress this weekend. Got the front spoiler off and the grille. One fan is free from any obstacles so that will turn freely but the other one is still jammed up against the radiator. My dad says that one of his friends from work has a truck and a wench thing. He forgot the name and was tryin to explain it to me so to my knowledge you operate it by hand and just hook it to the back of a truck. No idea when we can arrange a time for that guy to come over so my project is at a stand still for now. Anyway here are a couple pics of progress.
PS I have a new found respect for anyone that does collision work.


I found all the parts I need to restore the front end not including getting the frame straighten out and the bumper for 840 shipped. This included hood, both fenders, radiator support, grille, and radiator.
