running a website isnt cheap at all people. IM sure some of you know this. I do first hand, and it was all in the persuit of profit and revenue. This site is a non-profit site! Can you imagine all the money Steve had to give out of his own pockets to keep this place up?! Be grateful that this site is here for us tuners. Not a goddamn thing is changing. Only ads... and its not like your bombarded with pop ups. christ. Please. be happy they arent forcing you guys to pay like what almost happened that while back. Im sure those wouldnt mind... but im also sure you wouldnt mind using that extra cash for you kids/car mods/ FOOD etc...

top right is also a good idea, thats what i suggested, but thats going to require more searching thru code to get it to fit right. still a possibility though.
at least its not those flashing annoying ones, its color matched and is targeted towards whatever the thread is about, it has some pretty accurately targeted links...
and cmon, one of the links it has goes to ebay.com/jdm... most of the people here probably go to that link anyway, now its just pasted up at the top. and deever makes money from it, hehe.

i think google adwords are great. they are not obnoxious and distracting, they are text only, and at the same time can yeild some fairly decent revenue.
i do agree that the top right would be a better place for it though.
to this I say "its about damn time"
now we need an official cb7tuner wiki....

The small google ad is nothing to worry about as it isnt crazy and annoying like many of them. The website does cost quite a bit to keep running, and that cost will only continue to grow as the website does. If you dont like seeing the ad, just blink while scrolling down, and you wont see it. If you want to help out a little bit more, just click on one of the links in the ad when you are bored or have a minute, clicking on it and letting that page load shows that the banner is working on the site, and may increase what is paid out to help with the site.

Sorry for the ads. If I can move them up next to the logo, I will. I haven't figured that out yet (took me about 3 hours to figure out what I did so far!)
Those who know me know that I'm 25 with a mortgage, wedding plans, 3 cars, and now the expense of this site. I WILL NOT let this site go down because I fall on hard times! Therefore, I'm trying to make it self-sufficient. The Google ads, which sometimes will actually show good stuff, are the best way to do it. I talked to Boske over at HondaHookUp.com (another site I'm a part of) and he said that the Google ads are the best. They support the board, and they aren't all that intrusive. I'll try to place them a little better, if I can.
When Steve started this board, he was totally against ads. He was the entire time he was in charge, and I'm sure he's not thrilled to see them now. Still, the board cost him about $15 a month when it started. It's not about $100 a month, and the costs will only go up as we grow.
Mark, I know there were a lot of very generous people who donated over the past year. However, the $850 or so that was generated from that "donation drive" has already been spent by Steve. All I got was the last few days of November, and the first 15 days of December. I paid the bills today.
Donations would still be more than welcome, but I don't want to rely on a select few giving individuals. When Member A gives a buttload of money, Member B gives a couple bucks, and Member C just goes along for the ride, there is room for resentment. If you want to throw me a couple bucks, by all means... I would be forever grateful. If you don't care to, then just click on a few ads, or simply ignore them...
I give you all my word that I will not pollute this site with flashy banner ads and in-text links (like H-T) I regret having to implement advertising, but I promise to keep it as out of the way as possible!
