OK.. yeah, core support is a big part... BUT, I dont think the point was to get this car back to show car quality. I am simply saying that instead of being car-less, looking for a new car etc, just get it back running which wont cost much, and be on your way.

This is what my car ended up looking like.

      and

      and

I am still looking for the pics of the crash, but I put 400 total into the car, from when I wrecked it, drove it for over a year, and sold it for 1600 with 200k on it. I'll update before pics when I find them.

But the thing I am trying to say, we drive accords.. money doesnt grow on trees, and for a college student, it is 100x better to just fix it, and get it running fine instead of "doing it the correct way" which will cost more than the car is worth.

edit: heres what it looked like right after the accident(rad was against the valve cover)

That happened in Michigan, that night it snowed for the first time that year, it was the weekend before finals, and I had to drive to Florida on that Wed. or Thurs. I jumped on the hood like mad to break it off the latch, straightened it out, got new battery, radiator and battery fuse. Replaced all that in the parking lot, strapped the hood down with ratchet straps, made it to an ohio junkyard for a headlight, and then made it home. Car ran beautifully the whole way (19.5 hours straight through).

of course it works. why wouldnt it? my point is if your even going to bother doing something like that...why not do it the right way? why waste the time? if someone is happy with banging it so it looks good to them thats fine. im just saying thats not the way it is supposed to be done. for the average joe that doesnt have the money to do it right, or is just to lazy or doesnt have the skill than whatever they gotta do they gotta do. if your just going for looks over function than i can see why bagning is your thing.for me it would take longer to bang shit back to shape rather than simply drill out some spot welds and weld in a new core. shit thats simple as anything. banging shit so it looks "ok" is harder for me than just welding in a new panel thats already to have shit bolted to it.

look on www.craigslist.org , a lot of good deals on there. My friend got a s10 for 500, then, drinking + ice = no more s10. but yeah craigslist is good.

91, what the fuck do you care what I do with my car? It seems like you're taking this way too seriously. I honestly had no intention of arguing with anyone... I was trying to help the guy because he seemed really bummed out that his car just got fucked up. You know, shine a little ray of hope into the dude's life and let him know that the world hasn't ended. Don't get all bent out of shape just because I happen to find that something other than what you consider best works for me. I'm not working on your cars and you're not working on mine. It seems you're viewing this as some sort of real argument or conflict... which is not what I intended at all. If it is, it's because you're making it that. I'll say it again if you forgot... IMO, welding is great... bending works too... and has multiple times in my experience. If that bothers you, then maybe you shouldn't spend so much of your life on this forum. Go have a beer dude... if you lived nearby I'd propose the idea of going to have a few drinks and shit... you seem kind of tense man. Loosen up, it's alot healthier for you

91accord4door, doctorcipher isnt cocky, youre just stubborn. btw, ive done it 3x (all overnight), hes done it quite a few times hiimself... on his old corolla, it looked so good that i never knew it happened until he told me the story.

abdulmo86, im sorry to hear about and see the car, it sucks, its happened to me too :\

if youre completely strapped for cash and/or you end up not getting anything from insurance (in my accident, i was at fault so i didnt get shit) and cant afford getting anything else, a basic ratchet set, a few pairs of different sized pliars, a crowbar and a sledgehammer and you can get your car back to straight working condition (plus the cost of a couple new things like a radiator and junkyard headlight, etc)

ive done it three times overnight - of course to get everything to line up 100% perfectly again, itll take more time than that (each time ive done it, ive never went back to finish it)... but having an extra headlight and radiator, that was all i needed to get my car straight overnight and to work the next morning for $0 i then took the time to save and search around for a replacement cb7.

before and after pics of the three that ive done, mine dont look quite as bad, but yours looks definately able to be straightened out if you need. keep in mind these were all done overnight for close to free, and each one was up an driving to work in the morning.

this one, the other car's bumepr missed my bumper and went clear through my headlights, grille and hood.

dont mind the hanging bumper, its the same bumper from the first car above that was in the accident...

i am not going to touch the car until the insurance comes to look at it. the accident was not my fault and the other claimed 100% responsibility for the accident. so, the insurance is probably going to total it. and if they do i will buy it off them and do what mike did

Dang, pretty close mirror images except the neon I hit only scratched my bumper after hitting the headlights. His stupid car only had one little tear in the bumper where the fender poked through.

With a new fender, hood, bumper, headlight, grille, and a hammer, I could have that car all fixed up in a few hours. You should seriously consider fixing it yourself like that.
i kinda agree...after me being stupid in the hills i fudged up my bonnet, fender, wheel alignment and smashed the buggery outta my headlights. yeah its costing me a grand or two but least you can keep the dream alive.
