Moderators

Well this might seem like a stupid question but Im not a computer or internet wize. I just wanted to know what a moderator is and how do you get to be a one and what exactly do they do? I know they have to be very knowing of cars (cb7s on this board) and computers, but what else is required of them? Also I hear alot of people taking about Mod. boards, is this for the mods and administer to talk with each other about what to do with the site, changes, members, etc?

well a moderator helps run the site, our administrator is accordtunerx. us mods usually have seperate forums in which we moderate. like if someone posted in the wrong spot or someone is flaming we are like the reffs of the site. we regulate in lame terms haha.

we do communicate though.

I still think a mod reorganization is in order though...

because certain people who are moderators aren't on very much and apparantly post in the mod forum more than anywhere else... to give an example...Lithium... who was busted lying about his mythical "built F22" not too long ago...


edit:On the other side of that spectrum I'd like to say that 93accordEx is just the type of guy who should be a mod and does a good job...never condescending to the members and has accomplished quite a few things and very knowledgeable guy...

Steve is doing a pretty good job too... listens to the members even if he makes the occaisionial mistake it is quickly rectified...

sorry.. I just didn't want my post to be totally negative when there are def some postives worthy of note.

Yeah I agree with you here, Steve's accomplished quite a few things with his 4th gen. My particular favorite has to be the headlights. Beautiful car and cool guy to. The only thing that sucks are the fender creases. Hope that gets fixed soon.

i think all of us moderators have done a good part for the forum, everyone has contribited somethingi to the forum in helping especially accordtunerx, steve, for putting up the site and listining to me complain sometimes hahaha.

there is no mod but 1 who hasnt done work alot, usualyl people who cant for a while will notify us and we understand that you cant be on here 24-7.

i dont know whats wrong with nervous. id rather not talk about it cause that will change the subject of the thread =)

i dont have a modded car, but i know just enough knowledge to help....cash ownz me haha.

heyyy Ziggenballz how u gonna hoe me like that, ur hoein your b00y yo-.. .. neway we keep the forum from becoming a place where anyone can post crap anywhere, no worries mod reorganization happens every few months.. ... we look for people who are worthy of our powers and chose them, (uncle_el, bustedlx) to name a few we picked. Its all about being a good member, contributing ALOT and being super knowledgeable, altho just because your smart we wont make you a MOD.. kinda confusing i know but heh... btw, i dunno where NirvoUS went

thanks guys... i try to do the best job i can... sometimes it's hard being online with school and all.

as administrator, i sort of oversee the site/forum as a whole. i'm the guy 'backstage' keeping the forum in correct working order. i know that there are the occasional database errors - but usually those are via my hosting company.. which frequently gets bitched at by me.

but in short - i'm comparable to a store manager. i make sure the mods (lower level managers) are doing their jobs, and i try and help straighten out disputes/problems that may arise between members (customers - in this analogy)... usually problems that the moderators only have so much control over.

but seriously - it's REALLY the members who keep the site running.

heh, I thought moderators were chosen by both knowledge & being on fairly frequently. Like if someone posts a question in their section, if no one responds...they should with something to contribute..right?

your on the right track. we are all knowledgable and elected for that. but the fact is, we try and respond to everyone and help everyone, but if we dont know something...then what can we do? nothing....

but when at least i have something in my head i try to contribute it....and i try to keep it relevant. some things are just really hard to answer =)

whore it up bro, moderators dont need to be on 24/7.. its good but thats not why we choose them, we expect they be on enuf to do their job, but not take over their life.. just because somone is on alot and knows alot does not mean they have any more chance of getting a moderator position.
