PC and the term "african american"

yeah fellas, Race issues are well in my opinion, pretty simple.


Im the only Mexican in computer class thats full of white rich kids. I know how shit is.

Whenever somethings wrong its time to play "BLAME THE MEXICOON!"

not all the kids there are racist. I know a few really humble ones.

This is a hard one to tackle..because me Im half African and half Pacific Islander.

People still view me as a black person (not that I care) but when I mention my other half is a pacific islander they ask 'oh really where?' and then I get into the details of it.

I grew up in a country that was nearly twice the size of Rhode Island..and the people there had this hatered towards Fillpinos....I didnt really care much because I viewed them as all the same person as I was it doesnt matter what color or background you are your still human deep inside.

As most of you know I consider myself pacific islander and half african american and if youve seen me in person I have a light complexion about my skin..Im not to dark and not to light somewhere in between.

And the whole racist thing? believe me my own mother tried giving me the speech..and one day I flipped out and argued about it..she was trying to tell me about me being black and how and where my place was in this world so I retatiliated and told her that shes married to a white guy and i see no problem with it...that my stepfamily is white and I dont have an ounce of hatred for it and that most of all my own kid sister (half) is white and half of what my mom is..and i dont give a shit about racism.

Ive come into problems in public where older people would look at me and my gf in a weird akward way..like 'omg i cant believe shes with that guy' or how people try and talk to me like im stupid but I end up giving back a taste of their own medicine..ive even noticed black people give me the same look of like wtf you dont mix.

And you know what I dont give a fuck...I never have and never will because like I mentioned...we're all the same in the like. I know when I have kids man I'll make sure they appreciate their heritage...because my gfs a mix (german , irish , italian, native american I cant remember the rest) and im a mix..i just cant wait to see what our kids will look like in the future.

I was called a ****** once by this kid at school whom I almost hit with a tire iron...I asked him in sheer rage I was like dude who the fuck do you think you are...define me what a ****** really is.....and he looked so dumbfounded that the class was looking at him in such a way...it made him feel like a fucking loser. Ive gotten into fights from kids callin me offensive names even a teacher called me a 'porch monkey' so I called him a old ass wrinkled peice of shit..and they threatened to suspend me for a week and I ended up just serving an in house for it.

The world aint fair sometimes but hey what can you do? Nothing...we can call..

Blacks niggers, Whites honkies , Asians chinks or gooks , Mexicans spicks and every other name people would come up with but what can you do..really some people you can change some people you cant.

Personally I hate the idea of racism and I hope no one took the examples of deragatory names I mentioned to heart..its just the words that people have nowadays to describe certain groups of people in hatred and slang form and trust me I dont mean to offend anyone its just an example.

I just watched an episode of this show called Home Delivery about this couple that had a child together the father was a mix of black and white and the mother of his child was white...and her parents didnt like the idea that they 'mixed' but later in the show things turned for the better.

Me personally, I think racial slurs are hilarious. Of all kinds about all races, they just slay me. Then again, you can call me White Bread, Kraut, Froggy, Mick, Limey... all day long and it doesn't bother me.

but I thought I read somewhere that we are all one race and all of our decendents come from the same general area...People are the same regardless of skin color, no one is better than anyone else, and we all have our own strengths and weaknesses.

you're right. i forget where it is, but all humans are basically descendants of the same people, but humans as a whole are one race. i also thought that i read somewhere that people have distinctions(sp?) due to where that group originated. the climate where they started caused them to adapt and their skin color chnged, basically like tan.

i grew up in a small town in southern pa, and yea...were hicks, farmers, honkeys, w/e but i dont think where you're from or what you look like or hell even what langauge you speak makes a difference. i think what type of person we are and strive to be should be that determining factor but i feel no matter how hard we try, i dont think racism, prejudice, discrimination, etc. will ever go away because there are places where its basically bred (and im not bashin on the stereotypical places either, it can be anywhere)

these terms of "ethnicity" or "race" always give me a slight chuckle. im half japanese and half filipino.... I think i look japanese but most people can tell im a mix.

the thing that gets me chuckling a bit are those things where they ask you the ultimate "optional" question.

when i see those i always fill one....erase..fill in another...and repeat till ive filled them all and erased them all..usually i random select from those 4.

as far a PC i find myself always having to THINK to use it. if not id just be shooting off at the mouth with whatever comes to mind. being from california ive been using "*****", "nugga", "******" as much as the word, "like".....i never mean it derrogatorily (is this even a word) and has always been taken for face value. *insert typical defense for using racial slurs here*

i feel that those who use the term to refer to others and turn around and are offended when someone of another race uses the term is just plain looking for a reason to start shit. i think that the term has become too common place and since moving to the bible belt (arkansas is in the bible belt...evident by all the churches in a town where people have numerous affairs..but i digress) i do not use the word in my everyday venacular. i just feel id be adding fuel to the fire.

for me there is no offense taken by being "classified" by my race or ethnicity. i have great pride in being both japanese and filipino. the only thing that offends me is when people try to call me a racial slur and they use the wrong one, ie: ***** or viet cong.... hahaha it just shows how ignorant people can be!

....well i feel that people shouldnt be embarrased about what the others of the same race did before them. i myself want to find out more about my japanese heritage since i was raised more in the filipino culture (being roman catholic, going to private school, learning more tagalog than japanese...)

i dont let myself get bothered of being PC, its all a bunch of bull shit anyway, i can be called whatever the minority deams neccesary, but god forbid i say a racial slur in public. im not racist, i get along with everyone to a degree, but i also dont like people till they can prove me otherwise. and the fact that u lock your doors while going through a primairly black neighborhood is fuckin bogus. i use to go through worst neighborhoods*mikey knows* just to buy drugs. we're all the same people, as long as your cool with someone, theyre going to be cool with you. thats all there is to it. If you respect someone, theyre going to show you an ample amount of respect back no matter the color of your skin, and if you dont get respect back, thats where the the slurs come from, they really have nothing to do with color of skin, more of the attitude that the single person displays. that is all-eric

Sometimes... My dads black and my moms white. I look mixed but when i have to fill out forms if they dont have multiracial or other i just pick black.

I do the same..I always pick Pacific Islander..you know whats funny is no one knows the country Palau...everytime I mention it..they go oh wheres it near.

And I respond about 1,200 miles east of the Phillipines and 500 miles southwest of Guam. and they look at me like I have two heads.

I was laughing at the rediculousness (is that a word) of the extent of PC the other day. Jokingly, while talking about possible teaching positions, I said "Camden High is populated with 100% minorities". Kind of ironic

America takes things too far. To the point of patronizing idiocy. Black History Month? Crap. I agree that there are some wonderfully accomplished black people in American history that deserve more recognition than the textbooks from 1972 give credit, but designating a month... ONE month out of twelve... is patronizing and insulting. The books are being changed. Any "black" history is being incorporated into the books these days. We just make way too much of a deal about things! Thank you ignorant grandgeneration and your segregation...

At my restaurant the other night, one of the rooms filled up with a party of 20... making that server too busy to take any more tables. The only other non-smoking server was left with everything that came in. It just so happened that the next 7 tables to walk through the door were black. One guy made a joke about it being the "colored room" and nearly caused a riot! Everyone got 20% off their check. To make matters worse, the waiter was a 6'5" white kid with a shaved head... and the girl helping him run the food out to the tables (the smoking server) was a black girl, with the nametag "Miss Ebony". Not a good situation! Still, it was 100% conincidence. People get all worked up over racial matters, and very often it's not necessary.


People are different. People are flawed. People are NOT always smart, especially in groups. People LIKE groups (sig clubs anyone?). Unfortunately, the race situation won't ever change... until everyone is a nice shade of light yellowish brown
