it does SOUND like i a good idea. but everything always looks better on paper. trying to actually do it is another thing. we can try it, but i think its gonna come down to who has the most jdm'ed car... cause on here, they heavily outweigh the kitted cars. and of course the guys like me that are neither would just get ignored =(

but lets try it. then again, putting the car on the mainpage wouldnt do shit for me. i have this site bookmarked to go directly to the forums, so i would never see the winning cars. if you wanna do the work, sort cars 10 at a time and run a poll. if you dont win that month, youre sol. you can take groups by date of registration or alphabetically... that way it wont be a deliberate competition against jdm and kitted cars. itll just be the luck of the draw.

i dont like the idea of voting on the ride of the month.

the moderators have discussed this idea for a while, my personal favorite idea would have the mods just pick someone who they think deserves attention and make them the featured ride. thats it, plain and simple.

but either way, lots of ideas have come up and so far we have kinda felt that it would be easier and less problematic if we just dont have it at all...

Yeah, if anything, a featured ride would be cool. the voting stuff would get too way out of hand and not be worth it. many forums started only to have it get old quickly. But just randomly drawing members out of a hat or whatever sounds like a better idea.

yeah i just say do it random, no voting, just a random cb7 every month....and things would be cool...but either way is cool i think......

could have different styles for different months, kitted cars for may, JDM look june, stock look july so forth and so on... just to make judging easier.. also run into the problem of thinking of more styles...hell if we do this.. we could make a CB7 calendar!

Yeah, we've discussed the whole idea in detail... the mods that is. There are many ways that it could be made to work (3geez.com has a pretty good system) but those who are concerned about flaming have a right to be. It really would be asking for more drama than we need around here. When someone wins, there will always be the whiner that lost that has to make a fuss... There will also be the whores that HAVE to be nominated, and eventually it would turn into a contest with the same 5 cars. If the mods picked and/or judged, there would be favoritism issues... not intentional, but I know I pay more attention to someone's car if I know them!

Maybe sometime we'll find a way to fit it in here, but I don't think we (the community, the mods, and the potential competitors) are ready for it just yet!

We've already figured out how to see what number each individual member is (hold your cursor over the person's name on the left and look in the status bar in the lower left hand side of your browser... the last number shown is their number... for example, fizz is #42). We could just get a random number generator and pick people that way.

My opinion is why not set ourselves apart from all the sites that do the whole ride of the month thing...

This board isn't about the cleanest or most Jdm or spiffiest CB's... it's about all CB's... from stock to stripped to kitted to JDM'd the fuck out...and everything in between...

Don't cheapen the close knit camraderie of this community with a popularity contest...It will only lead to trouble IMO...

the only way for something like this to work is for Steve to select at random 5-6 nice cars each month, then have the mods vote on the best 1-2 of them to post up for RotM....

at least that way, there is no bias, and if 2 are selected, there could be one "clean" and one "kitted" car each month

AT does a ride of the month and it goes GREAT!!! Plus you could just limit it to the first 10 entries. However they havn't done one for a while

everyone votes until a specified date and your're done, then you start taking nominations for the next month, and when the 1st rolls around bang, you're ready to go again. No voting for your car etc. I think it's a great idea and brings a bunch of livlyness to the site.

1. 10 nominations are sent in (1 nomination per person)
2. Nomination thread is closed
3. Voting Poll is open to everyone! Everyone one has differenct tastes and there for we can get a great all around vote.

how can something work great... yet it hasn't been done for a while?!?!?

the only site that i've seen have a member's ride of the month consistenly has been 3geez.com.

again, when it comes down to it, i think it will cause more division than it will cause unity (sort of what zigenballz was referring to, at least i think he was!). someone feels bad they weren't nominated, someone else feels bad because they were nominated but didn't win, people hate on the car that did win- kitted, stock, jdm, a mix- people find something to hate on.

the ten nominations thing means post whores win- as soon as the nominations are opened, they fill it up. that, and the nominations may not be wholly representative of the cars on this site.

and of course consistency is a big issue as well. it has to be like clockwork, which is difficult given that the people who would have to put it together (the mods) are students and/or work a lot.

again, my main concern is the possible division it would cause. there was sort of a "kitted versus clean/jdm" drama for a month or two last year that was unnecessary. i'd hate for something like that to happen again.

I have seen no division on AT, have you seen any division on 3geez. I respect your opinion and I think you have a valid point, but if it hasn't happened on either of these sites, I think we are safe.

Also, the same 5 cars would always win, there are ways around that.

Why not make a commity (I think already said) to handle all the issues and make a guideline
