Would everyone here including deevergote appreciate a diy video section for the cb7's?

Like how to do installs and maintenance step by step with engine swaps etc. How come we don't have these?

GeoffM has made a few DIY videos. They were really helpful for me and I appreciate them. I've also found quite a few on Youtube. While they are reorganizing the DIY section, maybe a part of the title for the DIY's including videos could include the word 'VIDEO' (i.e. ENG: VIDEO: How to Seafoam).

The DIY Section is a work in progress but there is nothing stopping you, nor any other member for that matter from posting a video along with their write-up.

Videos would be great, but I don't see any point in creating another sub-section dedicated exclusively to videos. Just post them into the appropriate ENG/SUSP/etc sections. Keep the search process simple.

I mean seeing it in pictures are cool don't get me wrong but when you see it on video and the videos are quality like in real-time you can somehow understand it a bit more of properly applying the technique.

Yeah he is he definitely explains his work in detailto more where people can understand it rather than just saying do this and do that. I've seen other folks like Scotty kilmer but they don't get the full aspect of its more of a benefit to show what,how and why things are done a certain way.

I was considering perusing the new setup of the DIY section and seeing if posting more videos was worth the effort. Not sure yet. Just an idea I had and I'm "not in the right state of mind to do so" right now. If you get my drift

And as much as this is a good idea, has anyone ever watched horrible car DIYs on youtube (shaky camera, no focus, no lights, horrible instructions, doing it wrong, etc.)

Were not throwing away the English language when making videos, at least we shouldn't be doing that. The use of verbal/visual language is essential in such videos to communicate the steps clearly.

People are wired to learn in different ways; consider the learning modalities: auditory, visual, kin-esthetic/tactical. For example, I can learn quite a bit from reading a maintenance/repair manual, but when it comes to actually doing these repairs myself, I gain so much more practical and useful knowledge watching people handle the actual parts and tools (and observing how the car reacts) in real time. I am much more able to transfer that knowledge to my own work. The ideal situation for me, a kin-esthetic/tactile learner when it comes to cars, would be to execute a project with others showing me how to do the work in person, so that I can handle the actual parts and tools with real time guidance. Since that's obviously not practical or possible most of the time, I do the best with what I've got at my disposal on this site, which is a lot.

If anyone on here likes making DIY videos, despite the increased time and effort involved, there are many people on here who find them really helpful and are very grateful .

This pretty much says it all.

We haven't started developing the soon to be required DIY format just yet, but a tool list, pictures, and a very clear write-up are mandatory.
A video would be immensely helpful, but I think we should require clear written instructions as well.

Perhaps we can work it so that the video could be created by someone else, provided that they follow the written DIY procedure. (OR, with the permission of a video creator, either here or on Youtube directly, someone could do a writeup based on a video they watched and included.)
