Acura 2.5TL - What To Do

Hey guys, my moms got a Acura 2.5TL, with the infamous G25, inline-5 engine..saw a thread with this one guy who custom turboed his out, but naturally aspirated, this engine leaves no room even for basic maintenance. I was more interested in swapping in a more performance-friendly engine. Still digging up info on the engine itself, but from what I understand the axles basically run through the crankcase, or something to that effect. My moms isnt gonna be doing shit with the car except letting it rust, and thank god it hasn't developed any of that as yet..The original plan was to get the bigger brake setup from that and put it onto my Accord, but the Acura stockies seemed to be good enuff for the moment. So the only things missing off her Acura are the stockie alloys. I have already found another TL smashed in the front, for parts, for $500 if push comes to shove. But otherwise, I am genuinely interested in swapping in another Honda engine. Ive done alot of reading on custom swaps here on CB7 tuner, so I think once I've got a good game plan, I should be headed in the right direction. What I might start out doing is, removing the engine and tranny from either my moms own, or the smashed up one and taking some measurements. My moms own would be better for this person, as it isn't smashed in, lol. Dimensions of the engine, how it sits on the subframe, engine compartment dimensions, all of these should give me a better idea of what is possible in terms of fitting in there with good space to work. Also I might be leaning towards an engine whose mounts are situated as close as possible to the G25's own. I realize the G25 is mounted long-ways..but hey we have seen crazier things done with Hondas out there. Where there's a way, there's a will. Once thing I have no idea on is where the power steering components, tie rods, etc are located on the Acura in comparison to our standard Honda.

there's one opinion lol..bcuz when napa and Honda themselves tell me this car/engine doesn't exist, that mostly ends up meaning they don't carry anything i need anyways lol

Honestly, and I've had experience with these cars, sell it and buy something else.

But they aren't installed on Hondas, just this Acura. It has a lot of parts that aren't used on other Hondas. Not many people know how to work on these motors, so good luck with trying to find someone willing and able to work on it.

You need to rebuild the transmission? Not many are going to be able to do it and I hope you can actually find a shop that will do it without charging you an arm and a leg. (This motor and transmission combo ONLY came in two models. 2.5tl and the vigor. NOTHING else ever had this motor, it is highly uncommon)

I've warned you before. Get rid of this car. It is not worth wasting any amount of money on.

Yea but the VW guys have a ton of support, and that engine came out in 2005....

But anyways, if you do enough research/hunting, you will find a Honda/Acura Dealer who does have that ol tech in the back who can work on one. Normally they let him/her charge an extra premium for their "specific expertise" because it may take him awhile or he has to pull away from the normal workflow in the service department.

Did you try eBay as a quick fix?

Just because they've never worked on that kind of car before doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing

Its just like any other car, some shit is different but anyone with a brain can figure it out

the two mechanics ive worked with both have worked on these exact cars with me. given ive seen this pastor had to spend about $1000 or close to on just replacing mounts...these mechanics both see the potential of a inline 5 just as i do...no puny civic shall do me any injustices

auto cross it, the engine and trans sit mostly behind the front axle to give it better weight distro. oh and throw an exhaust on it, they got a unique sound.
                            wat?
