So what's the latest about the Dart SRT4?
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

I've been out of the loop for 2 months now, but it was still up in the air. Either super secret, or no plans yet. The only thing I can say is we do a great job boosting 4 cylinders, we have a 2.4 that fits in the platform, but we don't currently have a platform that supports any kind of performance AWD system for a car. So I don't know what's going to happen. Everybody is very aware that the Caliber failed because it wasn't AWD so we will have to see what happens. I know Ralphe said that there are no plans for one in person, but SRT is all skunkworks.

The only city he's really got to worry about is Pontiac.
Compared to Detroit, it's not bad at all.
Plus, the entire area around it is very nice.

I'm at school right now, and if I go to the window, I can see the headquarters.

That's not a big deal, I lived in Ann Arbor last summer and I drove to Detroit an Auburn Hills multiple times a week.

I'm fairly confident I'll be working at CTC, I'm going to look for a a house with a 2+ car garage withing 20 minutes of CTC, preferably on the west side. And they aren't really that bad. I used to go to clubs in Pontiac and Detroit and never had any issues (knock on wood).

But those are the downtown areas. Those are fine.
If it was closer, and more my style, I'd be in downtown Pontiac/Detroit more often.
The outskirts (residential neighborhoods) are what you want to be careful with.

You mean all the parts of town that nobody lives in and is borded up, but, people some how still are living there anyways?

Yeah, I was out there recently to look at some land for redeveloping and WOW I cannot beleive the current state of parts of that city. I mean, seriously, there are like colonies with their own law and their own authority and shit.

This one guy was telling me that the cops don't come for most shit, and if you get shot you are more then likely going to die since it takes 45-60 minutes for a response. This situation has put the threat of violence and the assumed authority obviously in the hands of local groups, and that is completely fucking bizzarre.

Its like going into a country that was ravaged by war or something. The "last people standing" or something crawling out of houses with boards on every door/window, no obvious power but extenstion cords running all over the place. Its fucking crazy.

I saw mansions and shit that were obviously vacant for years overrun with bunches of people. Like 10-12 guys said fuck it and moved in or something.

I cannot believe whats going on in that part of the country. Total trip for me. I used to go to the lions games back in the 80's and compared to then, the memories I have and stuff its just unreal and hard to rationalize all together.

                You’ve seen it too eh?

I think a while back I posted a screenshot of an area I had visited via street view.
Ralphie couldn’t believe it looked like that, and spent like an hour virtually visiting Detroit.

                Domesticated:
Rochester is very nice, but rather expensive. It’s also a pain to navigate during rush hour.
If you go east, in Macomb county, you’ll get a lot more land for your money.
The same applies to coming over here by me, but it’s not as rural as Macomb unless you go further north, like Holly.

I’m sure you know all this, I just wanted to chime in with my 2 cents.

Rochester is on the east side. I was talking Waterford of preferably Bloomfield or Farmington so I'm between CTC and CPG.

I meant even further east. You can get more land that way.
Waterford is a buffer zone, so expect some trash. It's better than Pontiac, but not as nice as the surrounding areas.
My girlfriend lives in Waterford, and so do some of my friends.
It is a nice place, but to put it in perspective, her neighbor just got 12 years.

If you can afford Bloomfield, go for it. It's expensive as shit and you'll get way more land
and house if you go somewhere else.

Farmington is far away from every city we've mentioned so far.
Before I started working in Southfield, I had no idea of the congestion down there.
696 gets backed up from Telegraph to Farmington, and sometimes even further.
Also, that's in the urban clusterfuck. Idk what you're looking for, but you can
                    pass a cup a sugar between houses(metaphorically).

Google doesn't tell me what CPG is, but I'm assuming it's somewhere down in Ann Arbor,
in which case Farmington might not be a bad idea.

One last piece of advice: They're shutting down 96 for reconstruction.
I don't remember when, but if that area is part of your commute, prepare for some traffic.

Are you looking for land? A house to settle in and stay? A house to sell after a few years?
A house where you can fire off guns and rev engines whenever you want?

I don't want to be more than 20 minutes from CTC. And I don't really care if a neighborhood isnt super nice. Hell I almost got 11 years 3 years ago and I've grown up in some shady places and I still have shady friends. I was even homeless for a year. CPG is the Chelsea Proving Grounds in Chelsea. I want to buy a house as soon as I can, probably a year or two. But for now I want to lease something with enclosed space to work on a project car without there being any clutter. And I don't want neighbors that will bitch about loud noises at night.
