Got pulled over for "defective muffler" and "defective tail lights"

I know firsthand that some police are biased towards some cars and profiles. I have been in my cd5 with a aftermarket muffler but still very quiet and been pulled over multiple times for loud exhaust. It's been measured at 82 db and the limit is 95.

Now I drive a 93 4runner daily that is ultra illegal. The exhaust is so loud my boss hears me coming a few blocks away. It's got no rear bumper and 33" mud tires that stick out the entire way. A cop could have a field day.
Have had many many police behind me and have NEVER been pulled over or hassled about it.

I also have a few cop friends and they have told me that some cops just hate certain makes and will pull people over and hassle them because they can.

I have come to learn that you just gotta be nice and polite and just accept whatever happens. Small price to pay and there isn't shit that you can do.

Of course some cops are biased.
Look at the way import guys and domestic guys go back and forth bashing each other. Imagine that they were cops, and had the ability to hassle the one they didn't like. Of course they would! Within the limits of the law... but a Mustang lover that sees another Mustang with a tail light out would let it go... but that same Mustang lover that sees a Civic with a tail light out would give the Civic owner a hard time. Sometimes it's not even a conscious decision.
The same most certainly goes for age, race, and gender as well. Also (hopefully) not intentional in most cases, but everyone has their own biases. I'm aware of my own.

Well look at the Harley Davidson Bikes they are loud as f'K and they don't get tickets.
