    Anyone affected by the Sequestration?

    http://nbcpolitics.nbcnews.com/_news...antaneous?lite

This has really got me upset.

I am affected, as once shit rolls down hill, I've been informed I will be off without pay for one day a pay period for a maximum of 14 days.

That alone is upsetting, but I was ready to deal with it, especially since I have a per diem gig that I can fall back on.

If you read that article, it states that while retirement will be affected and this will be the equivalent to a 20% cut in pay, what won't be affected is-

    *Food stamps
    *Medicaid
    *SSI
    etc

So basically, once again, the people who work are the ones taking the hit because you bet your ass that the crackheads sitting at home milking the system will get their check friday.

They are saying the lines at the airport and customs will grow longer as they reduce staff.....again affected people who work for their money....

Why couldn't they just cut welfare....let them fucks go out and clean some dishes or something for a few weeks....that would probably save just as much as this furlough shit will.

I just don't understand how we got to this point, and I know the addage is to go out and vote and educate on how it works, but I feel like the last few years have had record voting and yet it doesn't matter because at the end of the day they do what's good for them and their donators, not for the American populace.

    Just really upsetting.

    Just wanted to vent.

Not sure how many Federal workers are on here, but really everyone is affected in some way.

    I am affected.

Right now there are no talks of furloughs but as time goes on it will be something to consider.

So far right now we have:

No overtime or travel, take home vehicles and fleet to be grounded, among other issues I won't get into here.

You know whats worse is the president that has advocated expanding all of those unprotected programs, proposed this sequester in the first place as some sort of threat of action if congress didn't find a way to save some money.

Go fucking figure, another man made catastrophe in America. Working man gets fucked because the president is all about taking care of people that are too fucking lazy to GET A JOB.

"You got a job. You don't need help"

Yeah right. Asshole. Plenty of people are broke as fuck. I bet half the workers facing sequestration were living paycheck to paycheck from square one.

Mr. President, why double down on the people already struggling?

      Side note*

Been wondering lately, if I traveled to DC and requested to speak on the house floor, would they let me?

I mean, I am a tax paying citizen. They are sworn to serve the public. People get a chance to speak to congress all the time. No way its an invite only process. If someone wanted to go and ask some common sense questions, whats stopping them?

      Honest question, kind of related.

I would love to look these fuck's right in the eye and ask them a handfull of well thought out questions based on common sense rather than politics.

      Just sayin.

First and foremost, I would ask why they would allow gov paid workers to be sequestered, while expanding unemployment benefits to people that have failed to get a job for years.

Couldn't the same money paying worthless people allow people to continue working? If you don't keep people in the workforce working, aren't the unemployment numbers just going to go up anyways? Doesn't that still cost the gov a bunch of money? So why not get in front of this problem and find a different way to save money?

Seems like the savings is minimal at best when you get down to dollars and sense of it. 85 billion dollars is going to fuck a lot of citizens, and do NOTHING to balance the budget. 85 billion? Shit we spend that in 5 months in interest alone on the national debt.

85 billion is nothing. And, that I bet all the people that lose their job are only accountable for 5-10 billion of that total.

Guy working pays taxes. Does not get money from gov for food stamps, medicaid or anything else.

Guy gets laid off to save some a tiny bit of money. Now him, and his entire family are getting assistance. No longer paying any taxes at all.

      Am I missing something?

See, I know that congress would act like I was a moron and treat me like a fool. Thats OK.

Maybe if I made a big enough ass of myself, while making a valid point or two in the process someone with real power would hear the message and run with it.

Ya no furloughs by you? I guess that makes sense for what you do.

I was surprised that all the departments by me are getting furlough letters with the exception of one department.

You would think that with what I do, we would be considered "essential" staff lol. Guess not.

No overtime, no frivalous spending, no training, no nothing.

They claim it is only 14 days, but Im thinking that's just the beginning.

With the Govt, once you don't use it, it get's taken away. So if they figure out a way to make do without those furloughed individuals, then the next step is lay offs.

Im telling ya now, im going to be one pissed off motherfucker if I get laid off.

That was the whole reason for joining the Feds.

If that shit happens, it might be time to move outside the US. I'd have 0 faith in this system anymore.

Join the financial world if the fed BS doesn't work out. When you deal with money, you know you got a job.

            Why?

People are always going to build stuff, develop shit, go broke, need money, borrow, etc etc.

As long as there is an economy, working in finance will be steady work.

              Hmmm.

I guess you missed the closings for JW Genesis and all the other major banks etc a few years ago!?!

Places like that ALWAYS have lay offs.

Except finance in the federal side, but here we are looking at furloughs.

I've BEEN affected. I was supposed to go out in the woods last month to play G.I. Joe. The civillians who were supposed to be there to run the equipment/ranges were given the week off. So I sat in a hut for 4 days. Got my 3 meals, but that was about it. This upcoming weekend is another "chill in the hut" event.

Keep in mind guys that it's not so much the "crackheads" who won't work, it's their children who can't. I know it sucks, I'm not defending anyone, nor does my racial status compel me to cry out, because the statistics are not as they appear to be. One thing also is that if those "crackheads" don't get their money, crime will definitely go up. I can only imagine the senseless murders occuring due to the lack of money in the poor and middle class communities across the country, maybe in a suburb that your or my families might reside in. Again I'm not advocating for the non-productive members of society, but the system is that way for a reason; maybe not good ones, but reasons in the end.

I know Obama facilitated the sequester, and while I did vote for him, his constant approach to "Reaching across the Table" is his downfall. He really believed (and I did too) that neither party would allow their pride to go this far. I'm not a Republican, but I will give them credit, they do what they want regardless. We need to have that same approach, which is what should have happened in the first term, now we're stuck because of the minortity in the House. Let's not just blame him, but Congress as well.

Well let them murder and steal. Ill pick them up and drop them off at 1600 Pennsylvania. I hear there is a really nice house there with lots of expensive shit laying around.

I get what you're saying, but that's not an excuse. You're actually probably dead on, but that is no way to live.

Pay our way or we will just steal anyway....

And then if we get caught we get paid anyway.....with prisons that are nicer then the hood.

And I don't blame Obama. It's the whole group. Congress is mostly to blame imo. They let this shit fester....they could have sat down and ironed this thing out.....but they just say fuck it because it doesn't affect them.

Now they took a long weeeknd!?!?! Really?

                  bs.

Well I'm on unemployment currently, and guess what? The Fed takes income taxes out of that every week. You bet your ass I'm applying for every job in my field.

No I'm not, but it seems some people here think unemployment is not taxed, like its a free ride or something.

Nah, very familiar with all of that.

The thing is, there are so many aspects of finance to get into. That is more my point.

There will always be someone lobbying to do business. People that do business need people in finance.

I doubt you'll see any layoffs from uncle Sam. The last time there were any furloughs people actually got back pay once everything stabilized.

I can survive for a while without a check but what pisses me off is that they refuse to raise taxes on the rich, I get taxed at 30% while the rich barely touch 15%, and have a bunch of loopholes to have untaxed income.
