A simple poll about gun rights

As the title says, what is your opinion about guns?
Should the laws remain the same, or should they be more restrictive?

I think you have oversimplified the issues, and your results will be biased. There are many, many, many laws regarding guns and firearms in the United States. I'm sure that I could identify some that I believe should remain the same (the Second Amendment being one), some that should be "more restrictive," and should that should be "less restrictive." As a whole, and in general, there isn't a poll option that would sum up my thoughts. I'm curious to see what other people think, though.

A good point. While still being oversimplified, lets assume the laws we're talking about say guns are ok. Civilian assault rifles are ok. High capacity magazines are ok.
Someone who likes to eat people and wants a gun is not ok.

There should be a less restrictive option as well.

I had thought of that, but it seemed that would inspire comments about how less restrictive they should be, which would start conversations, which would inevitably get the thread shutdown.

              But, I would've chosen that.

I think good, honest, law abiding citizens should be able to be armed no matter where they are. I think we do need to take precautions to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and those who are mentally ill.

Any felon found with a firearm should get a mandatory life sentence.

Any parent who supplied their kids with firearms and then they shot up a school should get a mandatory life sentence.

do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I think there is room for improvement on all sides of the conversation.

Everything from required gun safes in certain scenarios, to flat out denial of ownership in others. I don't think people should be able to buy a gun if someone they live with wants to eat people either.

People should be held liable for any crime committed with their weapon if they were irresponsible with storing it.

I don't think restrict guns is going to fix anything though. Restricting/better managing people has its promises.

                      I voted.

I think we should kill the conversation, since we have a 13 page thread about this already.

We can revive that thread, but this was made just for voting.

Honestly, I could have predicted the results.

On a forum based in the US, the majority was not going to vote for more restrictions LOL.

People kill people, and people can always find a gun, legal or not.
And there`s more than one way to kill a man besides a gun.

Another canadian chiming in here. Can I just ask why should it be ok to have automatic weapons and assault rifles? What do you do with them? I have access to over thirty guns. They are all long guns for hunting, save for two which are handguns, both antique. I dont know what you would ever do with a handgun other than target practice? And yes I understand the american constitutional right to bear arms, and the feeling of wanting self protection. I just dont understand how automatic weapons could be useful for anything. Im not trying to start a riot here I am just looking for your honest opinions about these types of firearms.

                            1. Make your own thread. All of you. You're going to start a debate and that's not ok here.
                            2. It's not a matter of need. I want an assault rifle. Blah blah blah you can't take that away blah blah.

There's a large difference between an "assault" rifle and an automatic rifle.
