I help so many people its unreal. Seriously, I do good in this world. I mow mother in law and grammy in laws lawn. I plow sidewalks for the street. I help people with shit all the time. Its got to be my way though, otherwise no thanks. I mean, if you find your ass in a sling and you need ME to help out-let me handle it. If I could've done whatever w/out issue, I am certainly not going to follow your "I need help" havin ass. I'll take the lead, or no thanks.

Even though I help lots of people, there are just some things I refuse to do

    I refuse to;

-Give anyone money that is asking for it. Never that. This faucet has no leaks. I just gave my son almost 10 grand for his civic project. He can't even drive for another half a decade. Whatever, I wanted to do it so it is just different. Beg from me, and get a big fat FUCK YOU in return. I'm not doing shit for anyone because their sappy sob story provoked me to feel bad for them. Fuck off with all your bad luck. I don't care. In this world, you have to make your own way in life. Believe it or not, my tough love goes a lot farther than any amount of freebies I could give anyone.

-Loan anyone money. Friend or not. No dice. Not going to happen. I refuse to put myself in a position that I might have to fuck you up. I wouldn't be so pissed about a few bucks, its the point. Is there respect in this relationship, or not? 9/10 times, friends will NOT pay you back. So, look at it like that before you give anyone money. Do you want to LOSE this friend, because you couldn't just tell them no? Because that is what happens most of the time with money and friends.

-Loan out anything. Tools, movies, cd's, video games- Fuck off. Buy your own. I'll fix it for you before I'll give you my shit. Want to play my games, come over and I'll make ribs tonight and buy some beer. Want to watch a movie? We do that as a family once a week. Come on over for movie night and we will check it out. Borrow my stuff, ha ha ha- yeah right. See previous paragraph about lending money, same applies.

-Give anyone something that is expecting it. Let me give you what I want to give you. Fuck you and your demands, you want it that bad get it yourself. This does not apply to my kids, but it does apply to everyone else.

-Give people rides. Ok, sometimes I will do this. Depends. If its snowing, sure. If its in the country, yeah, Ill probably do it. In the city, fuck you. Go beg for money and catch a bus. Lol. If I know you, I'll pick you up/drop you off ONCE for a fee. Need a ride otherwise, piss off. Offer me a hand job, your lunch money, maybe your lunch, something. Shit in life isn't free. It wasn't/isn't free to me, so, there you go.

-Let anyone stay at my house. No fucking way. Let someone become a "resident" and then they have as much legal right to stay there as you do. Even without a lease or any legal means to claim the property as their own. Let a buddy crash on your couch for a month, and then you have to legally evict him to make him leave. Atleast in NE thats how it is. Fuck that. I whooped his ass and went to jail for assault instead. Never again will I go down that road. Turns out kicking his ass worked just the same because when you bail out of jail you have to keep distance from the victim until the judge decides who's the asshole. Arguing with a former friend about wether or not they can sleep at my house. HA, mother fucker. Couldn't believe the "Law" on that. Fuck him right in his ear for all I care. Cocksucker, I fucked him up good.

Anyways, life has taught me these things because as you get older, you get fucked. Friends fail at growing up and leach to your stability in life. You have to cut them off, thats all there is to it. Random people that beg for money, they are worse than leaches. Not only are they trying to blead you, once you shed blood what ever do you possibly gain out of that?

    Nothing. Ever. EVER.
    This. Fucking this.

This thread reminds me of someone I saw leaving the Autoshow.
A "homeless" guy in a wheel chair bothering people headed in.
I overheard him. His exact words:
"All you rich folks from the north can spare a couple of dollars!"
I snickered, and he caught my eye as a walked by. Immediately shut right the fuck up until I was down the road.

    As for giving rides:
My friends usually get them. I usually get paid or compensated.
My GF gets them. I get fringe benefits

Once I've given a complete stranger a ride. It was awkward as fuck and I'll never do it again.
It was on a community college campus, and he needed a ride pretty much exactly along my route.
What through me off, was he had a bike. Granted, it was snowing, but still.
I gave him the ride, and was sure to watch him and keep a conversation going the whole time.
He was also smaller and younger looking then me. Knowing what I know now, that doesn't really matter though.

I'll help out my friends if I can, until I find out that they won't return the favor when the time comes.

Quite true about Wawa vs. McDonald's! I pity those that don't know the joys of Wawa!

One of my good friends has borrowed money from me on numerous occasions. He's VERY bad about paying me back, and often tries to exchange "favors" (like fixing my guitars and stuff...)
He and his wife split recently, and he was out of work, so instead of loaning him a dime, I just bought all his musical equipment from him. Cheap.
Now he wants to buy it back. I returned a guitar that had sentimental value in exchange for guitar-fixing "favors" (I overpaid for this guitar years prior when I bought it from our old drummer... who was about to sell it to someone else... I bought it to rescue it, as it had sentimental value to me as well.) Beyond that, I'm making a profit on anything I decide to sell back to him, or he can buy elsewhere!

damn, you guys are cold! hahaha nah, I'm a pretty nice guy most of the time. I'll give pocket change to random people, never more than like two or three dollars, but it's better than nothing right?

As for my friends, I'll help them out whenever, loan them stuff, it doesn't really matter to me. I have a pretty small group of friends (like three) and we all help each other out when it's needed. But I'll wait until they ask for it. They way they are, they'd rather do as much as they can to try to help themselves, before asking anyone else for it. IMO it sucks to have to ask someone else for help. But I guess most people don't feel that way.

Only thing I won't do is lend them my car. You need a ride somewhere? I'll give it, but I won't let you borrow my ride, fuck that shit.

I wish I could trade my heart for an extra liver, just so I can drink more and care less.

I'll do absolutely anything for the friends that I know I can count on. I have a handful of them. Those friends of mine that would go out of their way to help me get the exact same treatment from me.
My friend mentioned above, when I needed help, would respond to my request with "uhhh... I don't know. my car isn't working great right now" or "my girlfriend isn't home yet." or something stupid. I've bailed him out of more shit, and he's done very little in return, and those things he DID do were often only after twisting his arm. IMO, that's not a real friend.

As for strangers... sometimes yes, sometimes no. Usually based on HOW they ask. If they ask as if they're expecting it, or acting like they deserve it... then hell no. But if they're clearly in need of food or something, sure. Even if i know it's probably going toward crack.

Depends. I have purchased a few gallons of gas for folks. During Christmas last year, a lady in front of me in the grocery checkout couldn't find her wallet, claimed she left it at home (~7 miles away); she was getting ready to put the groceries back or set them aside. I had them just ring mine along with hers (~$25 for her) and I paid it. It was Christmas (and I was in a hurry). I look at is as: I'm doing it in good faith; if they are scamming me it is on their conscience, not mine. If someone says they need money for food, offer to take them to a local fast food place and buy them a meal - if they are truly hungry, they will accept - if not, they just want the money.

Another good question for someone asking for money is: What are you going to do for me to earn it? If you're at the car wash, have them finish or help dry/detail the car. Come to my house, mow the yard, rake leaves, weed the flower beds, etc. You will quickly find what type of person they are.

If you pay attention, it is remarkable how kindness gets rewarded with kindness (maybe some other time or place). The opposite can be true as well, so be careful how you go about it.

Did she have any teeth? That's a deal breaker. I prefer my crackheads without teeth.
That's not giving money away, though. That's earned.

Me and my wife used to go to a nice place in Augusta, GA called the Riverwalk. Nice little walkway by the Savannah river, I had a guy approach us and recite an entire book from the bible. I felt compelled to give him a $5 I had on me.

On a different occasion, a lady asked is for money, stating her and her kids were homeless, a real sad story. I had no money to give, so I told her I had nothing on me. She thanked me anyways and we went about our business. We went back a week or so later, and she was there again, stopped us, and gave us the same story. And I realized that it was not time for her kids to be at school (afternoon) so where were they at? I really didn't believe her story then, and even though I had some money, I didn't give her any.

We never go there anymore because, being that its downtown Augusta, a lot of homeless gather there. The walk and view isn't that nice to be annoyed all the time for money.

On the other hand, I've had people try to peddle me some crazy shit at the pump. Of course you've got the underground rapper taking donations for their album. I've had one guy at 4am offer to sell me cologne, another guy offer me a pack of socks, and one guy even offer me a used, ran-over AA battery for $0.75 lol.

Tip jar? Hell... if I can't stick it in whatever clothing they're unfortunately wearing, I'm not giving them a dime!

                              I hate strip clubs, though.
