Ralphie, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's never easy. People claim that it gets easier as the days go by; and it may appear that way, but you just learn to mask your pain.

I'm glad that you said that you're confident in him knowing what you had to say. Don't wallow in the thoughts of not saying what you wanted to say. He knows.

Keep your head up and keep strong. If you need a shoulder, or a listening deaf ear, I'm here for you, buddy.

My condolences to you and your family. The story that you told how your dad taught you many great things and the example he set, sounds very similar to my dad and he is almost the same age. I am lucky he lives less than an hour away and I try to see him and my mom weekly.
Reading your story made me think just then made me also think of my grandfather who was hospitalized last night. He is very sick with pneumonia and other stuff. I get there to see him and most people would be whining or giving up. He was a WW 11 veteran and tough as leather. He looks up at me and says " Can you get me two aspirin and some water? And where is your brother?". I was holy crap. He is 87 years old and still tough.

Enjoyed your story man. Thanks. And best wishes to your family.

Sorry for your loss Ralphie. Sounds like he was a damn good man who did much good for those around him.

I feel I'm going to be in the same boat with my dad. He turned 60 this year, and he's overweight and has diabetes and had a quadruple bypass 4 years ago.

I'm close with my dad, but I haven't seen him in person since 2009. I hope I get the chance to see him again before it's too late. My dad means a lot to me, and it's unfortunate I don't get the chance to show it to him as much as I'd like to.

Your father's passing really hit a chord with me. All the best to you and your family. We're all here for you if you need someone.
