That's how I do it. There are so many games worth playing that can be bought for $20 used... I don't see the point in paying $60 new! I don't play often enough to justify a full price purchase these days. Though with the online multiplayer games, it's best to get them as early as possible. Otherwise, you'll encounter nothing but people that are WAY better than you... or people will just stop playing and you'll have limited options for online play.
I still love Halo 3, but now that ODST, Reach, and Halo 4 are out, the numbers playing 3 have thinned... and those that still play it are so hardcore that I barely stand a chance against them!

          Sweet!
And yeah, I just bought Gears of War a little while ago (1st one, I think...) to play with a girl i was talking to. I stopped talking to her before we ever played, though... so the game has gone unplayed since I got it!

I don't play games very often anymore, sadly. I used to be a huge gamer. Even planned on starting my own game design company.

Ya a lot of people dislike games like GTA for that reason.

idk, I just love the idea of being able to explore a real life city and not have limits.

GTA 5 is suppose to be "bigger" then 3, San Andreas, 4 , and Red Dead Redemption combined....

              which is fucking insanity LOL.

As far as buying new games, your spot on.

              I refuse to pay $60.

I get that the devs deserve the money after they put in 1000s and 1000s of hours, but I just can't afford to pay it.

GTA 5 might be the first game I get brand new...

              I bought 4 used for $12 lol.

I wanted to get GT5 but can't afford that shit lol.

Hey Ralphie, did you ever get into the Elder Scrolls games?

I'd say buying used is better than pirating, at least. Yeah, the companies aren't getting the money, but at least they got the money when it was originally purchased!

Some games I'll pay full price for... though that's been a while. Diablo III was my last new game, and I actually kinda regret that. It was fun, but not a lot of depth. VERY linear, and once you beat it, the only thing left to do is play on a harder difficulty through the same linear storyline, against the same enemies (only stronger.) Lame, IMO. That's 8-bit game design, right there.

I do like the open games that get regular updates. I don't play WoW, but the design is genius. That game can continue to be developed for years on end, providing more and more new content, all while generating both a monthly income from memberships, and income from the purchase of new expansion packs.

I wonder if a zombie survival game could do the same... maybe not, because such a thing is a fairly limited scope. Then again, it'd be cool to have a game that has a free roaming design, with other things happening in the background.
It'd be pretty awesome to have a game that has a ton of things going on in "real time" (as in, real game time... only happening while you're playing.) Things that you can interact with, or things you can completely avoid.
Like, for example, The Walking Dead. Imagine you're playing a character that isn't in the show/book. An observer, unless you interact. All the familiar events happen all around you, but you don't HAVE to take part. Might be tricky with something like TWD where the storyline already exists elsewhere... but if it's a totally new scenario just for the game... that'd be cool. It's an idea I've tossed around for years, but never had the motivation to pursue it. It's a pretty involved concept, executed as I imagine.

Nah. I did get into a MMORPG called Shaiya last year, like HEAVILY but then the group broke up and they banned the server we used so I never went back.

I had one or two level 60 toons.

That would be cool but just really intensive.

I pirate anything PC related just because it's easy.

Doesn't make it right and I know im helping to destroy someones hard work but it is what it is.

Again, if the games were affordable, then I wouldn't have an argument, but I refuse to pay 60-100$ for them shits.

And to add insult to injury, they want to ban reusing games...

i.e. you buy a game and its a one time use....so that basically destroys the used game market....

                      how is that fair?

So if that goes thru ill be pirating everything. lol

Quite true. I think game developers should accept that people WILL pirate their work, and provide links for donations either on their site, or even within the game itself.
If 3 out of 10 players pirate the game, and 1 out of 3 donates a few bucks... that could end up being a pretty decent return. Perhaps the same with musicians.

I could pay $60 and get all the fancy packaging (still a bit miffed that I paid $60 to DOWNLOAD Diablo III...) or I could pay $20 for it used, after waiting a few months (or years, if it's that popular.) OR, I could just pirate it for free, and if I like it, I could donate $10 or $20 to the developers. Yeah, it's not $60, but it's money in their pocket. They don't profit from the sale of a used game, so buying used is no better to them than piracy. But if I could donate just because I like it, I may not be paying "full price"... but I'm paying SOMETHING.

It was only 8 bucks at BB on BF and it was the version that had all the DLC.

A zombie apocalypse game with a free roam might be different, though. I think I could get into that!

I play Day Z quite a bit, and love it because of how it is, you have to actually try and survive, none of this, boom you're dead, respawn with all your stuff kind of thing, you die, you lose everything

I used to love roaming around games... oldschool games like Final Fantasy 3 (6 for real... but 3 on the SNES), the original Zelda (I'd literally bomb EVERY wall), and Mario 64 (I always tried to find ways out of the regular levels... I was convinced there was a world beyond the world! )

Now, though... I dunno... I guess the magic has been lost. I think I may have damaged my sense of wonder with video games when I tried to create them myself.
