Just out of the blue stop taking a charge and then shit the bed all together.

Who knows, take it for what its worth. I wouldn't buy one.

My wife and I have an original Ipad and the Ipad 3. No problems, ever.
My niece had that problem, turned out the charger just went bad. Her step father got her a new one and that was that.

I bought one for my mom for Christmas last year. I don't know how much she uses it, but she says she loves it. I got it so she could watch Netflix in the kitchen while cooking or doing dishes.
I got Netflix for my stepdad for his present... but I really just got it so my mom could use it!

For very basic things, I think the Fire is a great little device. It's not as capable as a full tablet like an iPad, and wouldn't be as useful if it were, due to the size. But for simple stuff, it's great. My mom's has been working with no trouble. My friend also has one, and has had no issues.

It's inexpensive, so I'd say it's worth buying.

Yeah Im not knocking the device for anything other than reflecting on personal experience.

As Leung mentioned, his niece had a charger go out. One of the friends that had issues had that problem. Another friend had the same thing happen and tried several chargers and basically it just wouldnt work.

They did replace it under warranty, but still it broke. Two co-workers had basically the same thing happen, one having previous issues leading to the eventual crash and the other one just didn't turn on one day.

          Thats all Im saying.

I personally think that part of the reason android is gaining so much market share is the price. Sure, some makers are making a product that rivals apple and is better in some ways.

But theres plenty of android powered bullshit phones and tablets that wont last a year and are piles of shit. They just happen to be affordable, driving up market share.

My opinion, Apple has got it right. I think that they should remove app's for not being up to date with current UI, and I think that if Android did some sort of quality control like Apple does they would be a better product. Im not saying that Apple does anything that Droid can't, just that Apple seems to do it in a more reliable manor.

Maybe that will even out over time-who knows. The R&D in Apple products is outstanding compared to most Android powered things.

Yeah, I get it you'll name some particular awesome device that kicks ass-but you know theres plenty of other POS devices out there that are NOT worth bragging about carrying android software.

Android is to PC as Apple is to Mac. PCs have more options, but less quality control due to the greater number of manufacturers and combinations of parts.

I have no doubt that the Kindle Fire is made in some sweatshop in eastern Asia. Then again, so is the iPad. Still, the Fire isn't held to as strict a standard as the iPad. The lower price reflects this.

As a part-time toy, I think it's one of the better tablets on the market. As a serious computing device, the iPad would be a better choice.

              Apple rocks.

The kindle fire was cool while it lasted, maybe it was a fluke who knows. It is what it is though
LOL @ the poor Apple sheep...

In that case, in your line of logic, anyone can write an app for Apple and sell it in the Apple Store as well. SDKs are available for both OSs. So under your limited knowledge of the ecosystem they are both flawed if that is your only complaint you need to re-evaluate. Plenty of Apple apps crash (if not more apps on iOS than Android) due to the lack of design standards. They just don't give you a system crash message, the screen just flashes instead and the app won't open. Android has a better evaluation system than Apple and is more fair to developers and give the users more freedom as of late is all I am saying. It's not a pro-Android rant, sorry you couldn't see the truth in my post. You must have missed the point that I tried to make to you that they have been combating fragmentation and this effectivly has fixed the "issues" as you call them. Newer Android devices don't allow random apps from random developers like you think it does, so this is a non issue. You can continue to spread this year old mis-information if you want, but it is not at all related to todays products running newer OSs.

              Apple does not rock...
Apple rips off the end user, the programmers, and violates labor laws.

Please tell me again why Apple rocks?
It's not new innovative technology... they are missing a ton of features the competitors have
It's not on reliability... the Android OS is much more stable and the hardware is standardised and more robust
It's not on price point... they overcharge for the real value of the hardware, you can assemble an apple product for cheaper from parts than you can buying one new from an Apple store
Maybe it is customer service, but I have never needed customer service with my Android device, I feel sorry for those that need to visit "geniuses" often as this is a sign of a product problem. In my opinion, being a member of XDA, the open source community supports you much better than any manufacturer ever could anyway.
It must be the dumbed down locked out user interface you think rocks, well there is an Android theme to remove the flashy Android stuff and make it look and run like a lesser Apple OS if that is what you are after.

I'm willing to bet you have never sat down and gotten to experience Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean. I have evaluated BOTH OSs extensively, so I am not being biased. I am being factual and have provided useful informative links to said facts. You would just rather state a random year old generic complaint as a reason not to pick a superior more cost effective device.

Ready for the real shocker? Both Andriod OS and iOS are really modified versions of UNIX, but the Android provides real multitasking and more security by running a dalvik layer, seperating you from core files. Jailbreaking is just rooting by another name. Rooting just means becoming sudo or root user and you can do this on both devices because both devices are UNIX based.

But you will just write this off as another pro-Andriod rant and not read it like the rest of the sheeple blindly following Apple products and continue to think they are the best, when in fact you are missing out on so much more. Go ahead and discount me, but it is your own logic that is flawed, and only you that suffers for that. All I'm saying is that you should be demanding Apple to be more, especially for what you pay for it, and since they falsely claim to be more.

You can lead a horse to water, but can't force it to drink...

Yeah, branding does matter, and when it comes down to a device you plan to use full time, you must buy a quality brand. Sure there are plenty of lesser android devices that don't meet Android standards and that is why they won't run ICS or JB. BUT if you stick to major brand devices that do run ICS or JB like Samsung, LG, or ASUS they are just as reliable as any Apple product. Sure I can go to walmart and get a generic Android device running out dated OS for cheap, but it will be just that ... a cheap POS. It won't have features like the top of the line device nor will it run the same software. IMHO ASUS and Samsung's quality control far exceed Apple's, I have had more screen bleeding on my iPad2 than any Samsung or ASUS product. But again that is opinion based and reviews reflect varying results so YMMV.

deev, you are on the right track, but in reality they are bot UNIX devices. Also as a serious computing device the TF700T with a docking station is the best choice, as it is a tablet AND a netbook. Software keyboards suck on BOTH OSs, but the TF700 docking pad with extended battery life and full qwerty keyboard are amazing and has nearly replaced my laptop, my iPad was never a laptop replacement.

Feels like you are trying to bait me into an arguement here.

Am I the only person that thinks this guy is silly?

I love my Apple devices, they do rock. Ultra reliable, nothing to complain about at all.

                I love my Apple stuff.

Call me a sheep if you want, baa-a-a-a-a-a-aaahh

I didn't buy my ipad to mod it. Call it a dumbed down and locked out device if you want, I dont care. I am more than happy paying for shit that others feel entitled to for free. Jailbreaking is not the same as rooting, and I really question where you are going with this anyways. I, unlike many, dont expect shit for free.

Im cool with paying my own way in life.

Lots of other people are pieces of shit, does that mean I should be a piece of shit too just because its easy?

You make a lot of assumptions in what you say, but jesus man tone it the fuck down.

Apple products are solid. If you don't prefer them, whatever. I do.

Heres an idea; You just do you, and Im gonna do me.

I've read, and now re-read everything you have said, and It doesnt change shit about how I feel. I have a bunch of Apple products, and have owned and currently owned a few android items as well.

Currently rocking Droid X as my company phone and the 4s as my personal phone.

Anyways, I know how I feel and nothing you said changed that. I listened, I read everything you posted twice.

I gave you the time of day, now quit flogging this guys thread.

Um ... yes jailbreaking is gaining root access, AKA rooting. It is just nomenclature difference. http://android.appstorm.net/general/...droid-rooting/

I never said anything about getting anything for free, infact I am anti-piracy. You still have to buy software if you root or jailbreak, if you don't you are stealing.

As far as what you pay for, you are not really getting the comparable features, so in reality you aren't getting what you pay for with Apple.

All I'm saying is that I paid $650 for an iPad2 and I paid $650 for a TF700T w/ docking keyboard and in my personal experience I got more bang for my buck with the Android device.

Also, a manufacturer should never lock out people from customizing their device.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but just trying to understand your flawed logic. I don't care if I change your mind but atleast I'm giving valuable information to the OP.

But what do I know, I'm silly and "flogging" this thread.

I guess what Im saying about jailbreaking is by doing so it opens the door for free shit, not that you must get shit for free while doing it.

If you want to act like you dont know what Im talking about, thats fine but Im sure you do. You know just as well as I do that jailbreaking the device opens pandoras box to install anything you want, no matter how you obtained it. Free, legal, pirated or not. Dont play stupid with me.

They offer a keyboard /dock for the ipad, it isnt that expensive to make or break your arguement here. I do think a manufacturer should lock people out of customizing their device if their own ignorance can cause it to eventually fail by said customization. I think we have a difference of opinion, but quit acting like Im uneducated about the subject.

I jailbroke my iPAD to buy non-apple software. Not steal software, infact most of those stolen software repositories are being shut down. I bought winterboard and intelliscreenx, both Apple would benefit from having in their store and neither would EVER break your device. Did you even open the link I provided for you?

EDIT:The only time people damage their devices is when jailbreaking or rooting, if it came stock this way your device would be just the same reguardless. It doesn't allow you to break your device anymore than the stock locked device does, it just provides access to hidden features.

On the keyboard note, they do offer one, but does it come with a full sized USB port and 7+ hours of extended battery life?

On the modification note, how would you like it if Honda tried to sue you because you painted your car or changed the suspension? No other manufaturer of major products care if you change or potentially break your own stuff. That is more money in their pocket when you but new parts to replace broken ones.

                        This is the last comment Im going to make on the subject;

Once you have opened Pandoras box and start installing whatever you want shit goes wrong.

I think Apple is wise to "protect" their devices, or lock them or whatever. People have a hard time ruining their devices, which makes Apple look like a higher quality product.

Keeping that image is important if you are going to draw a premium on the price. So, for market value I think its important for Apple to stand their ground on this. If they open up the platform, a slew of bugs, problems and variable shit is going to pop up making the devices seem less reliable.

Limiting the variables from square one creates a much more reliable product.

In my house we have 4 ipod touches, 2 iphones, 2 ipads, 4 ipods(nano and shuffle) an imac pro and a macbook.

I havent really had any issues with any of it. Users range in age from 5yr's to 41.

Now maybe in a 1 person/user enviornment the "hidden" stuff you are talking about is more important.

In my situation, reliable is much more important than anything else to me.

Again, you base this on mis-information and rumor, can you provide anything to back this up? Apple uses that same plight as an excuse to lock people out, but in reality id does not hold water and in fact some things availble from the Cydia app store improve the performance and reliability of the Apple product, where Apple fell short on stability and reliability, not only for customization.

I also have no issues with any of my hardware or software so it sounds like a moot point, age range on the products in my house go from 6 (step kid) to 76 (grandparents). The only real issue is learning curve.

EDIT: If reliability is all you are after then you must have missed the statistics that iOS has 75% of app crashes even having a lot less devices compared to Android, making Android the more reliable OS. This is where I see flaws in your logic, that is not condescending.

I had my IT dpt develop an app for something specific to the company I work for. Made it an app, put it on the android network, installed and go.

I can use the app to view live camera from the security system at some of the business I oversee, along with a slew of other things like when the alarm is armed, how often the door is opened, remotely arm the alarm etc.

Point being, I could have them make a pac man app, an app for flicking terds, and app for hacking-WHATEVER.

The app has access to all kinds of user specific information and settings, and my point of all of this is apple has a more uniform and secure way of managing this. The IT dpt made an app that peridically monitors my GPS location, and sends it to my corp office. Its required for anyone using a company phone.

If my IT dpt can make up some BS app for whatever I want, Im sure there are plenty of other people that can as well.

Android is more of a free rain enviornment, and that leads to crappy software at times leading to all kinds of reliability issues. When you start installing whatever is clever-blindly, shit goes wrong. Shit has gone wrong with several apps the IT dpt made, I lived that first hand. Random restarts, phone running like shit, memory card randomly appearing and then going away, all kinds of stupid shit.

It was their fault, but still-it happens and Im sure its not just specific to my IT dpt. There are lots of bullshit stupid apps all over the place and though you can find them on itunes as well-they are alot less likely to exist and once they are found they are removed.

For personal use, I think reliable is by far the most important part. Apple limits peoples devices with good cause and has kept an image of reliable and quality products because of it.

Again, last comment. You asked for an example, thought I would share one. Otherwise, Im done.

No hard feelings man, I just agree to disagree with you.

If your IT dept followed the new programming guidelines, they would not have had the issues you posted about. But really it's just like a PC/MAC if you install crap software it is not M$/Linux/Apple's fault, it is your's and the software companies fault.

The key to any computerized device is having good and correct software on your device. This is why there is a ratings and review system on the Google Play store. Don't download untrusted apps and you are good on EITHER device. But Andriod is still rated as more stable and reliable here recently.

Thank you for responding, and I can agree to disagree.

I think the big difference is the level of involvement between Apple vs Android in quality control.

You are basically saying if you install something that sucks, its the users fault.

Im saying i agree with you, but apple has less shit in the first place that sucks and has a proactive approach of removing known problems. Therefore, the user is less likely to run into issues. Im sure there are android gurus that could fix anything and make everything run smooth.

But for typical people that dont care to learn how to understand software and code to figure out if an app is safe or working correctly, I think Apple is a better option.

Android will let the app exist, even as a shitty hack of an app.

Yeah, my IT dpt could've done a better job. No arguing there. My point was that if they can fuck it up(well trained, college educated) anyone can. And since any jackass can write an app for the droid market, its entirely possible that there are more of these problematic apps available. IT was able to work through the issues, and probably should've done so prior to launching. HOWEVER, they were fully able to launch this raunchy POS of an app and nobody stopped them.

I dont want to worry about getting some BS phone virus over a word search game I downloaded, I want to worry about catching one from the porn site I visited.

                                Lol

Good day guys, sorry for me and this guy ruining this thread
